Japanese dragon eel feeding

Lemme first apologize for the quality of the vid but wanted to show everyone my eel eating and caught a scary moment in the process. My eel almost ate my porcupine puffer (or at least made me think so for a moment) as he yanked in a silverside which my porcupine was latched onto for dear life. All is fine and he went along his Mary way so no worries he didn't have a scratch on him. Enjoy :)

Ill post a better vid with my HD camera next time just wanted everyone to see how he was doing :)

Gf took the vid as I fed him. Didn't realize how poor a job she actually did. But with what happened to my puffe figured I'd post the scary moment.

It's a 180 flat back hexagon right next to my bed lol. Have a reef as well but wanted the more aggressive fish so got this for a steal :)

Awesome eel...I always wanted one. How big is he? You might want to take a head count of your fish every morning :)

He's about a foot and a half long lol. He doesn't try to eat my fish as he's always fat and happy, but when he's hungry he will chase em around until they get bored and lose interest. Even when he catches em he will just bump em with his nose (tag ur it) type of thing. :) have had him for about 5-6 months now I think.

Consider yourself lucky...I had a tesselata that size where every fish I had in the tank ended up in his stomach. I forgave him though :)

oh wow that sucks :( i thought it would b a problem as well but he seems to like all the fish in the tank, he pretty much sleeps with them. sometimes their fins are halfway in his mouth and he could care less. lets hope it stays that way lol

That's how it starts. They become all chummy with their tank mates to earn their trust then...CHOMP GULP and the eel just had a $100 sushi meal :)

Lol well that happens and he will have the whole tank to himself cuz I won't buy anymore fish for that tank lol.

On a serious note, and I'm sure you are aware, make sure every little hole is sealed tight. I've lost many an eel to them escaping through the smallest openings. Best escape artists ever!

Yea I heard that. No way for him to carpet surf that's for sure. He's too fat to fit thorough anything but reinforced regardless. Thnx for the info :)
