Jawfish- any suicide stories?

Hey guys, new to posting to the forums- been trollin- and just joined SLASH last night. So I have recently started my third aquarium, a 57 illuminata. I want this to be a very coral heavy tank, with different fish than I have had. My first tank was the typical clownfish/hippo tang, etc type of tank. While that was fun, I want to do colorful, exotic fish. So far I have a few frags - they are gorgeous glowing under the LED's- and the royal gramma I just bought last night.

So..... my question- I want to get a jawfish. I love gobies and blennies, and I have always loved how personable the jawfish are. However I know they are supposed to be jumpers and my illuminata is rimless with no lid or canopy. Have any of you had jumpers? Any fish that had a deathwish and continuously tried fleeing? I love these, but wonder if I should keep to fish that won't try to escape.

Gotta agree with Gary...I've lost 3 Blue Spot Jawfish....I should've learned but I wanted to try "one more time"...dumb dumb dumb! They truly are carpet surfers

they are awesome fish and I'm going to get one. but not before I make a clear net screen over my tank  they are definite jumpers. a screen like that may be good on a rimless tank. i'm sure others have done it.

I have a eurobraced tank with a canopy and a cover - I'm still concerned about finding my $100 BSJF on the ground in the morning. Putting a jaw in your tank would be a waste of $$$ IMO.

I've gotta say, my favorite fish of all time was my yellowheaded jawfish my girls affectionately named "Mojo". I had him for about 2 years and one night out of the blue he jumped from my 300g. I found him the next morning crispy and dried up. I thought given the tank size, he would stay put.

Awesome fish but will jump. I wouldn't put them in anything without a full canopy or net.
