Jawfish making inconvinient caves

Hiya, I added a pearly jawfish to my reef a couple days ago. He's healthy, however he seems to have decided to set up shop behind my wall of rocks in a location where it would be difficult to feed him.

His current burrow is under a main rock that cannot be moved easily.

Does anyone have any suggestions about relocating the jawfish? Should I make a little PVC pipe cave in a more acceptable location and try to flush him out?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i would tend to leave him be as he will get to the food as mine has readjusted a few times . i mess with mine and feed in a different area and he will move .the only drawback is that he is new and needs to start eating asap but they are smart enough to go to the feeding area . i do understand also that they are skittish and sometimes will not come out into open water to feed so how about a sea squirt to spot feed for him ?

I don't know why this is, but any of the jawfish I have ever had HAVE to be somewhere they can see out eventually. They may build their first den in the back, but they move out to the front eventually. Don't mess with him, as that will just stress him out. They come out at feeding time and will leave their dens by a significant distance...3-4 feet in my tank to get food.

You wanna talk about earth moving? I put a pair of engineer gobies(yes, I know they're not true gobies) into my sand bottom 400 gal. reef. I knew they're burrowers but really , these 2 move serious sand. Thankfully, the rock structure was solidly placed before the sand and hasn't moved " much". The upside, my sand gets a good cleaning. PVC might do the trick , if he decides to adopt that area.

personally, I would still add the pvc but wouldn't attempt to flush him out as iamwrasseman mentioned they are skittish. If you have the patience, he'll one day notice the pvc and set up shop there :) I have several scattered (1in rubber tube) in the front of my tank and luckily my pair of yasha gobies have taken a liking to one of them. good luck!

My Pearly moves to a different spot after each water change, I dont think you should worry about the feeding he will get to the food !
