Jawfish stuck in overflow ?

My blue spotted jawfish is in my overflow box along with my green mandarin. Green mandarin was easy to catch with my hand and put back in tank. The jawfish not so much. Ideas?

My overflow box is small and has the pipes in it so really hard to even fit my hand inside. I have tried a net w my hands but I lose sight of him and he gets lost in the water column. Traps do not seem likely b/c space is way to small. I heard siphoning a fish out might work.... But am worried he will get hurt. He has been in there 3 days. I am feeding him but not ideal. Mandarin lasted 9 days before I figured out where my fish were disappearing too!

Thanks neptune

Turn the flow off and use your hands. I have also pulled the siphon pipe out to fish a fish through to my sump. I have 1.5" piping though, so don't try this with small piping/tubing!

More detail on how you siphoned him? I can't really fit my hands in bc the pipes are in the way. I was going to use the siphon I use to empty my qt tanks. My fear is that it will be to fast and kill him?

I didn't siphon using a hose, I removed the drain pipe, which of course sends all of the water down to the sump. If your piping/tubing is large enough, and it is a short run, a fish can make the travel.

Like Marshall O,
I would just remove drain pipe, and let fish go into sump.
I've caught a few w/ a net in the overflow, but it's a pain. If it doesn't wash into sump at first, have 2-3g of tank water ready to add to overflow to rinse him into sump.
