JBJ 12G Heat Issues

Is anyone else running into this? Even at night, it drops to low 80's if I keep the lid closed - mid 80's to low 90's sometimes during the day with it closed. Seems a bit silly to get a chiller for a 12G tank, but, I am realizing it will be impossible to stock it. I have changed pumps, no change in temps. Was going to set it up as a sexy shrimp tank for my sister, so the intent was for it to be maintenance free. Has anyone come up with a create way to control the temp?

I can't seem to get temp controlled in a biocube 14...also having tough time finding a low watt heater???

I went ahead and took off the small access lid completely from my JBJ 12g and I also keep the ceiling fan on high in my office to keep the heat down. It will get to 81 when the lights are on during the day and drop to 79ish at night. AC in on 24/7 sense we live in FL as well.

Your A/C must not be too cold if you have it blowing on your tank...

I used to have a biocube 29 and I had heat issue too. Tried fans, leaving top off, just didnt work well. Eventually just bought a mini-chiller from JBJ. Worked great, didnt have any more heat issues after, tank was really stable after. I didint really want to buy a chiller for the tank, seemed like a big item for such a small tank. But in the long run it was a great investment.

Yeah, it is crazy, A/C keeps the room at or below 75. Guess I may get rid of it, not going to spend more for a chiller than the tank is worth. I may try a project for an under sink RO chiller, and see if it helps it. I don't think it is designed to run like this, but, I bought it on clearance when I bought my sink RO unit and it is just sitting around. Maybe if I keep a slow enough pump on it, it will have enough contact time to work.
