After winning the Panorma LED strip at tonights meeting, I ahd all the parts for my upgrade from the stock PC lights.

I gutted the hood of all the original electronics. Re-using the reflector, I mounted 2 of the 8k/453nm 12 watt panorama strips ( which fit like they were made exactly for this), and added a 6 watt actinic blue stunner strip just above using 1.2 sheet metal screws.

Here is a Pic:

I will try and and take a pic of the tank with them tomorrow,

The lights look even nicer in person. I really think they look a little brighter than the 150 Viper sitting next to it. LED's are looking more and more like the wave of the future.

It's all about the DIY. It is just not cost effective in the short term if you don't already have the tools. Not having to replace bulbs except every 5-7 years would be nice though.

Check out the maxspect LED systems, they look like the next semi affordable LED option.

My total cost on the LED retrofit was $85.00. I planned on it being at least 250, but the planets aligned and being a club member helped sginificantly.

Andy looking good I have the same Panorma LED strip one stunner ant 2 bi-color on my pony tank. Love the colors they bring up.

looks good. LEDs do seem to be the future. We have been looking to use them at work for solar simulation to replace the HIDs due to their crazy long life.
