JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

Hey guys i'm ordering the 28 gallon LED tomorrow morning and wanted to add heaters to the order.

What are you guys using and are you using one or two?

I didn't think chilling would be an issue with the LED model. My place is always cold anyway and I have to run heaters on my other tanks.

I just don't really know how much room there is in the back and didn't want to buy one and then find out that it's too big.

Anyone have issues with the stock ballast sometimes not firing the bulb? I am running a 20k radium and half the time the ballast doesnt want to start it up. I have to turn it off an on a dozen times for it to work. Could this be a radium issue or more likely the crappy balast?

i reealllyyyyy like your tank... these sure do look a lot better when theyre not covered in hair algae like my tank

Anybody have any input on running Ushio or Radium Bulbs on stock ballast. Need to get a new bulb to replace the stock one my last result will be the Pheonix.

Either my ballast is going out or it just doesnt like to fire up my radium all the time. I got to turn it on and off a couple times before it will fire up sometimes.

Hi everyone I just recently ordered a 28gal quad from dr. fosters and now I am waiting until next month when I can order the lr/ls from TBS. In the mean time is there anything I should get for or do to the tank or sump to get ready?

Thanks
Ron

You can fill the tank and sump up with RO/DI water, start to plan a stock list, look for a good CUC, get all the equipment you need.

hi just wanted to say hi. I just got a 24 gallon JBJ nano cube. I have 35lbs of really nice live rock. i have been reading some of the old threads. in the back i put in more LR and a sponge. Eventually ill get some chemipure.

im very interested in adding some DIY Leds. i have 2 65W PC. Also i added an AC adapter for the moonlight.

Can i grow sps with PC and LEDs

i dont think im gonna mess around with a skimmer on this tank, ill just keep up with weekly 5g water changes after the cycle. Also gonna add some seed rock from my display tank. The rock i got was already cured in a a tub.

I am all set with ro water I will get that from my work:D I have started on a stock list as well. This will be my first reef tank so I hope the corals I have picked so far will be ok. I was also wondering if anyone has a rbta in their reef tank and if it would be ok? If I got one I would add that first so it could get positioned where it wanted and hope that he didnt change his mind after I start on corals. The only reason I want a rbta is because I plan on having a pair of picasso clowns in the tank. LMK

Thanks
Ron

Hi there, just purchased a JBJ 28 LED and will be setting up in about 2 weeks. Want to do this right and here is what I am thinking.

Already bought a ro/di system. Proplus. http://www.spectrapure.com/email/customer-appreciation.html#1

Will most likely go with a Reefkeeper Lite Plus. http://www.digitalaquatics.com/saltwater/RKL

I want to squeeze a tunze 9002 into the rear compartment and use the upper chamber of the media basket for a fuge with led light. I would use the remaining 2 compartment as shown here.

Will be using a JBJ ATO with aqualift pump like this.

Ecotech mp-10

Heater, 150 watt

5% water change every week.

Bottom line is everything I need except corals, LR, LS and fish will come to $1650. This includes test kit, refractometer, vacuum, etc

No chiller as this is LED.

Any recommendation on the stuff I have chosen?

FYI, I am not new to aquariums at all but have never had a reef before. Now I am only running a large goldfish tank but did have a 150G FO saltwater setup with 70 gallon sump, wet/dry about 10 years ago which I did have running for 7 years before I moved and sold the whole setup.

Goldfish? Don't laugh, they are actually quite fun and easy and have remarkable personalities. :love2: Running twin Fluval 305's and a 36 watt UV sterilizer. Tank is 36" high.
