salt water will rust most stainles steel :D

my first question is i blew all 4 of my nite vu moon light leds and need to replace them but not shaw if they are 1w or 3w and i dont think i can get a replacement part in the uk so was going to solder some new leds.

my nano is the hqi 28g D&D

Can anyone tell me where I can get a diy heatsink that will fit directly into my jbj hood? nanotuners amde one but they closed shop. anyone?

Okay I'll post this question hoping for a quick answer before I go back through the 120 some odd pages to find it. I've tried searching but getting to many (or not enough) responses.

The moonlights on my CF Quad hood quit. It all started with the one of the lights flickering, if you prop open the hood it's the lower right one. When I noticed it I unplugged it from the timer. The next day when I plugged the timer back in, nothing, now none of them work.

So, just change the led's out? or does it sound like a ballast problem, wiring issue or what? I know nothing about lighting or electrical so any responses should be worded like you're talking to a 5 year old. :D

Thanks.

Im having this same problem, any ideas guys??

I just updated my nano chronicle that I made some time back on a different site and figured I'd share some new photos of my 28 LED Nano that I just took here too. Like I said in my chronicle, things are going pretty well with the tank, no major issues. As a matter of fact, I had some really nasty red turf algae a few months back and after a little research found out that simple Mexican Turbo Snails could take care of it and they surely did. No more red turf algae. All of the corals seem to be healthy and growing with the slight exception of my Florida Rics; I can't seem to find the ideal flow and light for them so most are just getting by and have lost some color. If anyone has suggestions for me on taking care of them I'd love some advice. I also just fragged my Frog Spawn as it was getting a bit too big and blocking out the light to some of my Rics on the ground. Anyway, here's the pics:

Those blue cloves are sweet. Tempted to get them but afraid they may take over. ;)
You're right on the money. They are great as far as adding cool color and reproducing/spreading quickly but I am a little concerned that they may take over. I'm just hoping they won't be as aggressive as other corals so when they grow up against them other corals will win and not be over-ran. We'll see.

Exactly. I learned that lesson the hard way with G.S.P. Once it takes off it gets into every nook of live rock.

If you can keep it contained it looks great.

Hey everyone,

I have decided to go with a JBJ nano. I have one question about the differences between the HQI, LED, and QUAD PC. Are all 3 of these kits the exact same with the exception of the lighting? In theory would you be able to buy one and interchage the lighting fixture lid? I see many products saying they are made specifically for X model or Y model. Is the back of the tank set up the same for all 3? I really want to get the LEDs but they have a great deal of stand, chiller, and live rock with the Quad PC. And was wondering if it would be financially more smart to just but the Quad PC and replace it with the LED lid(if even possible), or buy the LED and then purchase stand/chiller.

Thanks for any help RC.

As far as I know they are all the same tank. If you shop around you can get a really nice deal on the LED (1w or 3w). To me its cost prohibitive to buy one then "upgrade" the hood but I know people do it. Good luck.

I agree with the previous post, it will cost more in the long run to upgrade rather than just buy what you want up front. I also agree that the systems are the same with exception to the lighting in the hood as far as I know. I went with the LEDs and couldn't be happier. I have the pro model and the lighting is exceptional; I'm growing sps, lps, and softies with good success. Depending on your location, you may not need a chiller at all with the LED set-up. It really produces little heat at all. I don't have a chiller on mine although my home is air conditioned and stays around 70-72 year round.

hey guys! Thinking about getting an AI SOL Nano for my JBJ. I currently have the CF Quad. Will this be enough light? I have a lot of soft corals and some zoas.

It will be far more then enough, you will likely not be able to run at full intensity. Make sure you start very low intensity and ramp slowly each week. LED is deceptively bright when transitiining from PC and you can easily burn your corals.

great! I was concerned because a guy on here had an AI Sol Blue on his JBJ! haha. It looked awesome, but I have no way of hanging it at the moment. I suppose the controller AI makes is recommended?

Another question: I have a remora skimmer hanging of the back of the middle chamber. It actually doesn't sit right because of how the plumbing is set up on it, but I have it on the running anyways (it empties into the first and second chamber). Is it okay if I run the tank without that media basket? I have been without it for a few months now and haven't seen much difference in my levels. I do, however, want to start running some reactors off the back with the skimmer. Does the 2 little fishes reactor fit without modification?

also, how much flow do you guys have in your tank? I have a Koralia 3, and it seems like a lot. My Bangaii Cardinal and firefish seem to stay in one spot. I am starting to think it is because of the heavy flow. Any tips? Sorry for all the questions!
