where do i get the replacement/modded collecction cup for the tunze 9002?
if i'm going to have something sticking up (or HOB) then i might as well go all the way.
i was sure i saw a HOB that had a fuge/skimmer and an ATO chamber. i just looked through 10+ pages and can't find it. any ideas?

I think it’s a CPR aquafuge you’re looking for. I would have the ATO in the chambers where your pumps are because that’s where the evap will show.

Well now it's delayed quite a bit = item went from Backordered till 2/28, then 3/7, now 3/27. No one else has it anywhere near as cheap ($450 with stand and free shipping for the intermediate).

But, I can buy some LR locally, real nice purple coraline coverage, from a guy taking down his 125. Can I keep it in a plastic tub with heater, pump for circulation for a month, and not lose the coraline? Best I can do for light is put it in the sun like a plant.

Help needed with switching stock return pumps

I finally decided to switch out the stock pumps for MJ1200s. The stock pumps were suctioned cupped to the bottom and pulled loose pretty easily. I was able to get the plumbing attached to the MJ1200's and with a little tweaking was able to advance them down the outer chambers. A few issues I was hoping someone could help me with:

1. Looking into the rear chambers from behind reveals that the MJ pumps are not all the way to the bottom. This leaves the intake of the pump nearly pressed up against the glass of the middle chamber adjacent to it. It appears that if I added a couple inches to the hose it would sit below the wall and draw water with less resistance. Did anyone else need to replace the hose with a longer one to make these work?

2. After taking down the simple hose connections I became aware that these did not appear very secure. I could just see the hose popping off the elbow and spewing salt water all over my office. Has anyone had problems with this? Has anyone here taken measures to reinforce the connections?

3.As the pumps are now, they are very loud!!! they are rattling/vibrating like crazy. The stock pumps were very quiet in comparison. Has anyone else had this problem? Is their a solution to reducing the noise/vibration?

I have tried searching this topic within this thread and all the splits but have not turned up any answers on this topic.

The coralline will likely die off in a months timeframe if not provided with light. A lot of it will die off during the cycle anyway.

1) Probably best to just replace the hose, it's cheap and easy to do. 1/2" ID does the trick.
2) After over a year, never a problem with mine. A zip tie or plastic hose clamp can easily be added for reassurance though.
3) Sorry, can't help here, I still use the stock Accela's because I saw no benefit to changing

I got my brand new Nano Cube a few days ago. Can't get it going for a bit yet because I'm going out of town, but I've been reading all the instructions and hooking everything up. Keep in mind, I haven't had an aquarium for 30 years and the last was a 20 gallon freshwater tank. I have no clue what I'm doing.

I was pretty proud of myself. Got it all hooked up and ready to go, that is, until I came to the protein skimmer. No instructions. I haven't a clue what to do with it, how or where to put it, what it hooks up to if anything. It had no instructions. I googled it and came up with lots of posts about how simple and self explanatory it is (not to this self!). I can research deep sand bed vs shallow vs none, or what fish are appropriate, what corals, how to aquascape, but I can't figure out what to to with this danged protein skimmer. I see a space where I think it ought to go, buy it doesn't seem to fit.

If anyone can point me to some pictures or a video, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks.

Oh, I have the LED one and I even managed to set up the automatic top off thing. I know it's simple, but this kind of mechanical stuff is not easy for me.

Plan to get:
HOBB-1 Skimmer.
MP10.

I bought it with semi matured live rock. The rock on the bottom will be used to decorate throughout. Some rock has feather dusters on them? ANd other coral like objects that I have yet to figure out.

So far the parameters are

0 Am
8.2 PH
0 NI
40 NA

1.024 Salinity

NA has been constant for about a week or so. Looking forward to a drop in the near week or so.

Is it the stock JBJ skimmer? If so, looking at the front of the tank, it should fit in the chamber to the left of the center overflow chamber. If it's an aftermarket one, we need more info on make and model.

When you say NA you mean nitrate (NO3) right? If so, 40 is pretty high. The skimmer should be knocking it down, but water changes will also help. Looks like you have completed your cycle

Thanks for the response. It is the stock one that came with the aquarium. Where you mention is the place where my limited intuition told me to try to put it, but I can't get it to fit. Anyone have pictures or videos? I'm also wondering what level is appriate to put it at (assuming that one day I succeed in getting in put in). Very annoying that it has no instructions.

Summary of my tank. I bought the tank used with semi mature live rock. I added new salt and new water to it about 2.5 weeks ago. Only thing that is up is Nitrates. So.. Im waiting for the nitrates to come down as 40 is def high, and then do a water change and start stocking it up lol.

This tank is my first 'real' tank where I get to experience all the different mechanical and physical aspect of a tank.

Oh, BTW, I dont have a skimmer yet, well not that I think so? :spin2:

Ohhh, I saw the HOB-1 listed but didn't realize that it was "plan to get", oops! Do a water change now, it won't hurt anything and will get your nitrates down. If you want to "test" that the cycles is done, add a small piece of raw shrimp and see what happens to your NH3 and NO2 over a couple of days.

The tank did come with Mr.Tank in-slot. So I have chemipure and purfigen? on top and bottom. In the middle I have polishing filter. Been doing great.

Here's a question for you.

Your back compartments. How much water or up to what level is the water reaches? (As in pumps, to pipe line)

I try to keep mine topped off to almost level with the "2" and "4" chambers.

Back to the protein skimmer issue. The one they sent with the tank (I bought it directly from Nano Cube) is the Aqua Euro Nano Skimmer ll. It doesn't fit in any of the back compartments, no way, no how.

I emailed the company asking for a refund of the amount added for the protein skimmer or to send me a different skimmer, one that fits. We'll see how they respond.

I think I saw in other threads you have to take off the return elbow and pipe. I just squeezed mine in yesterday doing that, still a tight fit. I guess it still works ok without it.

It will fit, barely, if I take off that part. I didn't know I could. Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I got a response from JBJ today. They emailed me that the protein skimmer is to go in the main tank, not in the back (say what?).

Ok guys i just got my Aquamaxx HOB-1
I set it up exactly as ange062 did with the return on the left side and on top of the black stock sponge that came with the media basket.
The problem is the micro bubbles thy just keep on coming into my tank.
I even tried it with the center compartment so there was a longer way to the pumps but still was getting the bubbles.

What other solutions are there?
Should I get a big sponge to fill in the pump compartment? maybe that will help.

Also i should mention it was used for several months but i got in nice and clean.
maybe i should soak it in vinegar to clean it better? Does the brake in period has to do anything with the bubbles going into the tank?
