Good evening folks,
I am still a novice to Saltwater tanks in general, but I'm trying hard to get refreshed on what's new and what's not. I was in the Navy for almost 9 years, and had (2) 75 Gallon tanks while I was in. My first tank that I had was only up for roughly 7 months before I deployed, and my wife accidentally wiped it out while I was gone. She cleaned the tank lids with a cleaner not thinking about the water splash that hits the lid. It was an honest accident, but I figured I wouldnt do another tank until I hit my shore tour. My second tank was only setup for about a year, and I loved every minute of it. It was an absolute blast to get going, watch cycle, and add to when I had it. I've since been retired due to an injury, and am finally at a place where I can start back my love for Saltwater Aquariums.
At the beginning of the year, I setup a 10 gallon nano with a Kenya Tree and some Zoa's, along with one of my all-time favorite critters, a Mantis Shrimp. I love the tank, and absolutely love watching my little Mantis do his thing. It's amazing. However, I still had this gap in what I wanted to do, so I recently picked up a JBJ 45 Rimless, Stand included, and am looking to getting it setup relatively soon.
I know that I need to get a light, skimmer, powerheads, and heater, but I'm curious to know what you guys would recommend for this particular tank. I'm not looking to break the bank right off the bat, and I know that I have to cycle the tank for a few weeks to get the water right. What would you guys recommend in regards to the equipment I need? As I said, I'm not looking for top of the line, but I also don't want garbage either. Any advice would be great!
Also, I've heard that this website has a "For Sale" section, but I'm currently denied access for some reason. I went through the registering process, so I'm assuming I've got to be approved to use it. I'd love to pick up some nice used equipment if possible.
I forgot to mention, I intend on this being a tank with both Fish and Coral. I'll have to do my own research on what I can and can't mix together species wise, but any recommendations would be awesome!
I live in a very rural area, with only 1 store dedicated to SW. It's a nice place, but a little pricey. They rarely carry equipment, and I haven't had a chance to pick the brain of the owner since they've been open.
I appreciate any help you guys can throw my way, and thanks for allowing me to post!

Trey
