JBJ 65 Vs SCA 80-90 cube ??

Hello all

I used to have a biocube a few years back and I am wanting to get back into the hobby

So I think I have it narrowed down to the jbj 65 and a SC 80-90 gal cube.
I really like the idea of the JBJ being an all in one - but I really like the SC bundles that are available online as well.
I have had a few years experience with a 32 gal BioCube, so I'm familiar with an "œincluded sump behind a false wall" but I have never messed with a spectate sump below the tank.

I am looking for a little input/advice on these two options . I would really like to avoid "œapex and other difficult systems" while at the same time not having a ton of upkeep (lol, right?)

Welcome to RC, Payne Train!

The simplicity of all-in-ones are hard to beat, but cramped for any additions. A sump gives you room to try different things, but adds a little complication of overflow/return options. Easier to stick with AIO setup, since you're used to it. Going the sump route forces you to grow as an aquarist.

I made this exact same decision a few years back. Had a bio cube for a couple years got out of the hobby for 5 or so years.

When coming back to the hobby the two tanks I was considering were IM fusion Lagoon 50 all in one or an SCA 50 with stand sump etc..

I went with the IM Lagoon 50 all in one primarily for ease of use and familiarity. I loved it!!

6 months (maybe less) back into the hobby I wish I had the sump.

Just my 2 cents. The learning curve returning is still big but it's quick.

The sump gives you so many more options for filtration media reactors refugiums etc. With AIO you're typically stuck with the manufacturers add ons and they're not always the best. Also sometimes more expensive for lower quality products.

JBJ's are good,, but bigger is always better Go with the SC unless there are known problems with them (not familiar with AIO's that big from them).

I actually just bought the IM Nuvo SR Pro 80.
Im pretty happy !

That seems like a nice tank I look forward to seeing what you do with it what are the plans have any ideas for equipment?
