JBJ Chiller vs. Reefkeeper Light

In this corner we have the ReefKeeper Lite Plus probe reading 80.6 in the protein skimmer portion of the sump. In the other corner we have a brand spanking new JBJ Arctica 1/10 HP chiller reading 78.6F.

Who wins?

I filled a glass container with DT water, stuck a glass thermometer in it, waited a few minutes and got a little over 78.5F!

JBJ wins! RKL sucks! JBJ wins! I'd like to say woo, but why is the RKL I splurged on off by so much? Jeez.

Have you ever calibrated the RKL temp probe with your glass thermometer?

Your RKL is fine, I have a RKE with two temp probes and the probe that sits in the skimmer portion of my sump always reads on the high side. This is caused from the pumps that I run 24/7 to feed my skimmer. I would suggest putting a secondary thermometer in you DT or moving you temp probe.
