jbj protein skimmer - How to empty

I have the JBJ protein skimmer on my 28 gallon cube. Since this unit ships with no instructions, how do you get the collection cup off to empty? I have tried twisting, pulling, etc with no luck.

im pretty sure it should just pull off. but i have never owned one and am just going off what ive seen.
