Jebao Dosing pump thread.

Surprisingly it took my doser 1 year to die. Comparing to other Jebao stuff ive owned, this was a record. Somehow i decided to test for alk and Ca today and noticed they were very low. I have a packed sps tank so the corals must had consumed about a week's supply from the water column so i estimate this doser went dead around 5 days ago or so.

The manual dosing of the pumps works, but the home display looks like this:

Im carefully trying now to bring Alk values back up and will install a Neptune's DOS earlier than i expected since i was saving it for my next build in a few months.
Hopefuly i caught this issue early and corals wont start to STN, time will tell.

I considered myself a lucky Jebao doser owner. i guess not so lucky anymore. Good luck everyone

Mine will be here tomorrow. Ordered from Amazon.

How is it? Is it the Jecod labeled one? I just set mine up and calibrated it. Tested 20 ml dose and it dosed it exactly at 20 ml.

Going to dose once every hour, 12 ml each.

Certainly looks exactly like my jebao 4 channel just extra channels.

FWIW, mine has been pretty good for a couple years now, but does require cleaning out the tubing from time to time

So anyone ever find out exactly a way to tell v1 from v2 other than the box?

Not sure. I'm going off of box. Mine has been accurate on time and dosing so far. Only a few days in

(Posting this while it's on my mind.)

I took a risk and ordered from an eBay seller/Jebao distributor based in Wisconsin, who is selling a "version 2" at an "special introductory price".

The unit arrived in a Jebao box and is labeled as a Jebao. It came with an extra pump head. I opened the plastic case to see if I could find any markings indicating "v2" and in my poking around, I found one of the PCB's (the one that has the RJ-11 jack) to have what appears to be a date (or maybe something else). The PCB reads "20150529" which *if* it's a date, it would be May 29, 2015.

It could just be a PCB manufacture date and not any sort of ROM flash-update. I'd be interested to see if there's a correlation between anything V2 and anything printed on the PCB's.

I'm also guessing that this is just a v1 being sold as a v2.
Thoughts?

IDK how to tell V1 from V2, but be sure to check the pump heads. Every one of mine were assembled backwards.

My first car was a '68 bug. What year is yours?

Do any of you have a link of a video showing how the heads should be installed. I'm having trouble finding this.

I got a dp-4 a few weeks back it seems to be working accurately but I would like to make sure it is setup correctly

The plate should be installed against the pump.

Hey flat four VW. Are you sure about this. It is suppose to look as the picture you posted. I just opened mine up and all have that plate installed away from the body. Opposite what is pictured.

^^^Addict: From what I have read and viewed earlier in this thread, others have discovered that the plates were installed with the rollers facing the brain box.

The rollers should be the first to face out and carrier plate should be back closest to the brain box.

To update my story of receiving a possible v2, my rollers were all installed correctly. I opened each and checked, even if you can see through the little holes in each head. It *is* possible that the seller corrected this on his/her own, since the Jebao box did not come shrinkwrapped.

The instruction manual shows the incorrect roller placement.:wildone:

Hmm I'm scared lol. Not sure what to do. Analyzing it I see arguments for the circle plate to be on either side. Sitting away from the brain box there is a indent is sits nicely in, then again it might spin more easily with that circle plate against the brain body.

Thanks guys I took all your advice and flipped all my heads around. Tested many times, all seem to be working correctly. Hope I made the right choice.

When dosing Ca, there is always air trapped in the tube after the pump head. Is this normal???
