Jebao WP25 Information

A question to those who have taken the WP25 apart to clean: Should the propeller spin freely around the ceramic shaft? My propeller and ceramic shaft fused together and no matter I long I soaked it in acid, the propeller is still tightly frozen with the shaft. In all the mag drive pumps that I came across, the propeller all spin freely around the shaft. What is your experience with your WP25?

I have cleaned many mag drive propeller assemblies with propellers spin freely around the shafts. This is the first time that I came across where the propeller fused to the shaft. I do notice the other pumps use rubber bushings which keeps the shaft from spinning while the WP25 and WP40 uses ceramic bushings to allow the shaft to spin. This may explain why the propeller and shaft are one unit.

It's late, I'm tired and feeling very lazy (or else I would look through the thread) but I have to ask. What would be best for my 72 Bow, the 25 or the 40? Thanks!!!

I would recommend a wp40 for any tank larger then 40g as the flow is wider and you will probably have to dial it down weather you get a 25 or 40 and you should be able to get more useable flow out of a 40 then a 25. Just my thoughts as my lps hated the 25 until i found just the right spot and dialed it back alot(the flow on them is quite direct and can bother some coral especially on a tank without some length).

I appreciate the recommendation. I actually found a thread from a while back that I forgot about and people recommended the 25. So I actually ordered one earlier today. SO I'll see how it works. If I have to I can always upgrade. I have a good amount of flow already because I have a dual return setup and a Hydor. So once I set it up, I post my thoughts. Thanks again!

I have 29g square tank and currently 2 x Hydor Koralia Nano 425. I want to exchange one of them with WP25. After reading so many posts I'm still not sure. I have one dimmer I used some time ago with Ecoxotic Leds. Do you think it's gonna be OK. I definitely have not enough flow.

i put one wp25 in my biocube and this thing moves all the water in the tank lol. in a 29 square tank you will definitely have to dial the pump back and use a dimmer on it unless you get the newer controller with the speed settings. i have an older controller and use the dimmer with no problems for the past couple of months.

Anyone know where to get a replacement photocell? Maybe Radioshack or something. I got mine today and after messing with it, I dropped the photocell somewhere behind my tank. :headwally:

Just received the Wp-25 . I have a 40 breeder and would like to have random, changing flow. Want to start at 50% power, then go to 75% in a few days. Can someone tell me what settings I need to use to get this? Also, I noticed a dial on the control box. What's that?

Else mode is reef mode.. Random pulses.. There is a button on the controller to control the speed.. The knob is for how long you want the pulses to last.. All the way to the left are small spurts and the more you go to the right the pulses are longer.

Very excited that my wp25 is on its way. Ordered it on eBay in a group buy for only $65. Tank is a 55 gallon with 4 powwrheads in it now with static flow. Ill be running mine most the time in else more on one end of the tank, with my koralia 1050 on the opposite end. This should eliminate two powerheads from the tank which u am happy about. I plan to run w1 mode once a week or so for an hour to pull out any settling. Detritus which I've heard pulsed waves are good for.

About the photocell. What is the benefit? It is my understanding and observation that most corals feed more heavily at night. That's when mine all have the best PE and the Lps put out their feeders and sweepers. Wouldn't you want flow at night? Why cut the flow down? I've never turned off my powwrheads when it's dark.

Personal update: I finally made some custom cables for my two WP25s and connected them to my Apex. It is pretty stinking cool to be able to fully control the intensity and wave patterns of cheap pumps. I felt like I never really knew what the stand alone controller was doing.
