Jebao WP25 Information

wow, the 25 is really powerful. I cant imagine more powerful pumps.... already had to turn it down quite low on my 100g cube else my RBTAs would just curl up and sand would blow everywhere... think I'll get a pair for my 6 foot tank. at the price they are amazing.

they each have a controller. The one you have set to master will control all the others up to 8 I believe. (the one set to master will talk to the other controllers set to slave )
I have 2 RW-8's in a 75 gal. set on else mode with night mode turned on. It works fine for my tank.

I know you can get the wp25 for 54 bucks locally here, but fishstreet has them for 70, their DC6000 is now 95...
It was 90 a few weeks ago

I don't know still having issues.. after vinegar cleaning it slows down again after only 1 day..
if I shut it off it will run full then slows. if I shake it in the water it will run full for awhile..
think I got a dud. oh well.

I have the same problem with my 2 RW-8 PUMPS. Only one had the whine initially, now the second does. It's very noticeable and annoying. And they've definitely lost power. I will try cleaning them to see if that will help.

I bought 2 WP25s for use in a 120 gallon tank that I'm starting up. I noticed the "light sensor" on the wave maker controllers, and after some quick Googling, I see that it serves a function - to lower speed during night time.

My build is going to end up with 3 48" LED bars mounted inside of a canopy.

I'm wondering where the best place to mount the Jebao wave maker controllers would be?

I'm thinking velcroed to the back of the tank - figuring there will be some light spill out of the rear of the canopy that will reflect off of the wall behind.

Where have others mounted these controllers so they see / recognize daytime vs night time light levels?

IMHO, your best place to mount it would be anywhere you like and throw out the sensor. It fails a lot and will be more trouble then good. I have even read a bunch of cases where the controller went into night mode and never came back out even after power cycling the controller etc.

The sensor is built into the wave maker controller ... how do you get rid of it? Or are you saying to replace the controller with a different controller?

They little sensor should just pull out easily. Mine were just in a bag and had to put them in. I stopped using the controller though. Love the pumps and the return pumps

I guess I missed that the sensor needed to be attached - the instructions were REALLY bad! I think I already threw the boxes away - guess I don't need the sensor. I saw online someone had a link to a replacement sensor that worked better, I'll have to look for that later. Too busy trying to was out substrate right now ...

It is pretty small and plugs in the left side of the controller, there are 2 little holes for it to go in

Not worth the hassle.
The sensor needs a bit of light to work, so when the lights go out and it is really dark it tends nor to work.

I found that if you put the sensor bear the light on a power strip that will give it enough light hen the lights are off for the sensor to work.

There is a link to another absir from Radio Shack that works better on here somewhere.

Found the replacement sensors on eBay. I got a couple of them for $5.

I have successfully kept nanoCubes over the years. I am now venturing into a big tank. I don't like the looks of cables hanging around - I go to serious lengths to hide all cables for Entertainment Centers, computers, etc. (I have rebuilt cabinets to include areas to hide cables - I HATE seeing cables!!)

How do you mount your WP25s? I was leaning towards mounting on the back wall of the tank - that way the cable in the tank would blend in with the black back wall ... but I don't think the back wall is an ideal location for these pumps. I haven't tried yet ... I just haven't seen many circ pumps mounted on back walls, they always tend to be mounted on the side walls.

As for the sensor I actually made extension leads for mine so I could mount the sensor in a way that got just enough ambient light to function correctly.

As for mounting, the rw-8 had a diagram of possible locations. One showed 2 pumps mounted at the left rear of the tank angled slightly to the right maybe 20 degrees.
