Jebao WP60

Hi everyone who has posted to the WP 60 thread. I am considering these, possibly two to be used on a 6 x 2 x 2. Appreciate further comments about the noise level on these as this will be an issue for me. Thanks, Regards.

I can post a pic later, but the water still cloudy after adding several bags of sand.

The noise level is deff noticeable but I wouldn't say is loud and it degrades OR I have gotten used to it after several days.

Magnet wise, I wish it was better. The pump has fallen a few times. maybe I installed wrong?? I also have 3/4" glass so that may be part of the problem.

Anyone have the link to the magnets people are using for 1" acrylic/glass?

Mine don't even think about staying put on 1" acrylic lol...

Do you guys think that my WP40s and WP60s will be ok with the magnets I bought for the outside magnet replacement.

My tank is 1" acrylic, with 1 1/8" on the back.

Magnets I bought were N50 2 x 1 x .5 coated with epoxy. Said they have a pulling force of 89 lbs.

Just want to make sure I didn't buy a magnet that was TOO strong and might damage the pumps.

Thanks

I bought a wp40 about 6 months ago, and liked it so much I decided to 'upgrade' to a wp60. In my 90g reef.

Yes, you read that correctly. Removed the 40, installed the 60. Best setting is W1, S2 - which is 75% of max. No issues with sand shifting, corals seem to love it, only issue is noise... not pump motor, that is dead quiet; the noise I hear is the water lapping up against the top frame and the overflow.

I tried W1, S1 - but it did literally send waves over the top of the tank!

As far as size difference, the 'ball' portion of both pumps is the same size, just the 'nozzle' part is larger on the wp60.

I've got a 48x32x22h BB tank with one wp40 but I need more flow for sps keeping. Do you reckon adding a wp60 would be too much, is it that strong? Am I better off sticking to a second wp40?

Any tips to quiet down the noise of the pumps? Does it dissipate over time?

I have 2x WP-60's in a 450g on 'else' more and the noise is noticeable.

Hudds, I'll recommend (after seeing this beast in action) to get another WP40. This will allow you to have better random flow in your tank.

I have one WP60 in a corner by the overflow pointing to the opposite corner of the tank (crossed) and pointing upwards towards the surface and I'm having problems keeping the sand in place. I have to dial it down for now and plan to add the other one I got but I'm not sure it will work to keep the sand down. Maybe by having the flow cross each other it will be better - maybe.

marty9876, maybe cleaning it? assure all is set properly?

Hey rickyb,... interesting, I'm thinking about a couple 60's how long is your tank, and what type of sand do you have? I'll be watching for any other up dates you might have. Thanks,---Rick

Thanks for the feedback Rickyb! My tank is bare bottom so I wouldn't have sand issues, but if you reckon the 60 is too much for your 400 then I should definitely get the 40 :)

I have 1 60 and 3 40s in a 300 with crushed coral all are set on else mode, I have no issues with my crushed coral , I guess if I had fine sand it may be an issue but if you don't I would be buying 60s

My tank is 72" long 36" Wide and 36" High. I am running a Jaubert Plenum on it that makes the sand approx 6" high. The sand is Caribsea SeaFlor speacial in the bottom and Caribsea Fiji Pink Live sand on top. The filji pink is .5-1.5mm in size. At one point the pump fell off on top of one of the rocks and pointed downwards towards the opposite corner, the whole corner was cleaned out of the sand within minutes.

If bare bottom go with the WP60!

I've been playing around with the settings and I installed the second WP60. The sand is now staying in place. I set both pumps to H3 pointing up and to each other from the corners. Out of all settings I like the Else the most but the humming noise is at lot less with the H3 setting.

just my 2 cents.

Mine were louder at first and they all got quiet after awhile. I have mine in a 96x30x24 I am sure the extra length helps. My coral bed is real course and not but 2-3 inches deep. I have noticed if they are not at least foot down from the surface they will suck air.

That's nuts.

I have two WP40'S and can't run them on 100% because my oolite starts getting pulled up and blowing. This is on a 210gal (6x2x28) and they are towards the top and pointed slightly up.
