Jebao WP60

Any pics ?

My tank is 72" long 36" Wide and 36" High. I am running a Jaubert Plenum on it that makes the sand approx 6" high. The sand is Caribsea SeaFlor speacial in the bottom and Caribsea Fiji Pink Live sand on top. The filji pink is .5-1.5mm in size. At one point the pump fell off on top of one of the rocks and pointed downwards towards the opposite corner, the whole corner was cleaned out of the sand within minutes.

If bare bottom go with the WP60!

I've been playing around with the settings and I installed the second WP60. The sand is now staying in place. I set both pumps to H3 pointing up and to each other from the corners. Out of all settings I like the Else the most but the humming noise is at lot less with the H3 setting.

just my 2 cents.

BTW thanks for the pics Hodge. Seems like the impeller isn't that much bigger on the 60 but still pushes ton of water I bet.

Its not so much the size of the impeller but the pitch of the blade. The 60 has a steeper pitch which is like a speed prop on a boat. It takes more power to run that pitch but it will push water out at a faster velocity. The blades are also more robust on the 60.

I have a 120 x 31 x 31. Fiji sand in sps dominated tank. Thoughts on two wp-60. To much ..or not enough .. Orientation??

First off I'm not an expert on these pumps. I'm just posting my experiences with these pumps, making it easier for the us to evaluate and consider our next steps.

That been said, I would think that any tank 6 feet or longer could easily use 2 WP-60's. If flow is too much in the wave settings, you have other settings and levels to choose from.

BTW, I liked the light sensor. I turned on for a few nights and is pretty nice to see the pumps slow down without the use of a controller. I removed the sensors for now since I don't have any lighting in my tank and is currently cycling.

I want to correct this. The Caribsea Fiji Pink was not live, just their regular dry Fiji Pink sand.

96x36x30 with 2x WP-60's and 2x 6105 here, I'm thinking of pulling the 6105's and having 4x wp-60's

Running them at static #2 setting to keep the noise down.

Four huh.

My tank is 96x30x24 , I have 2 wp 60 and 2 wp 40 , I have no doubt I could have 4 60 in mine and your tank is bigger. Even if you had to dial back justa bit but all mine are on else mode. The 60 will have to be at least a foot down from the surface or it will suck air.

really. this have to be 12 inches below surface. ??? my tunze sit about 6 inches from top with no issues..

wow

I joined the club today. I removed both Ecotech Vortech MP-40w's and replaced them with one Jebao WP-60 and all I can say is WOW! The Vortech's were too noisy and I have sent them back twice for repair but I finally threw in the towel with these pumps and gave the Jebao a try. The flow from one WP-60 is better than both MP-40's and the wave setting on the Jebao is superb, I could never create a wave in my 120 gallon with two MP-40's no matter what I tried. I purchased two Jebao WP-60's but one is more than enough for my tank needs, the second one will be my backup :) The Jebao is more quiet than the Vortech but it also takes up much more real estate in the tank.

one wp60 is creating waves.. no need for alternating? where are you placing the wp60 and how is it aimed.. are most of you putting it down in the middle 12 inches down and pointing it a little up or what.. thanks

Yup. They're awesome. Have wp40, wp25 on its way. Now have to get a Wp60

LOL, are you buying toys just for the sake of having them or do you have a use for yet another powerhead. What if they come out with a wp 1000?

Are you going to get a bigger tank just to use the powerhead?

You got powerhead Itis lol.

That's nuts.

I have two WP40'S and can't run them on 100% because my oolite starts getting pulled up and blowing. This is on a 210gal (6x2x28) and they are towards the top and pointed slightly up.

lol you are lucky. i have to run two wp40 so it can make it to the other side of the 5 foot tank...
