Jebao WPs bog down quick?

Hey guys. Is it me, or do these WP pumps clog up and get run down easier than other pumps? I have to admit, when I first put my WP 25 on my tank, the flow was BEASTLY, but after a couple of weeks, not so much. After a month or 2, the thing was barely pushing water (well not barely, but nothing compared to new). So I took my pump apart, standard vinegar bath, and presto, back in BEAST mode! 3 weeks later, not seeing that same movement. I usually go a few months or more between cleaning my MP pumps, and I really don't see a drop off in performance like I do with the WP.

Not trying to be a hater here. Just posting my observation. I will attest that for the money, I think its a great little pump. Please share your experiences.

FWIW, I'm running it on W2 and W3 depending on how "bogged down" it is.

I agree. It does accumulate more gunk quicker than others but I love this pump. It just needs cleaning more often. No big deal cause I clean my pumps once a month.

I would agree they slow down a bit. Whats nice is for the money you can go a size bigger nd have the headroom and when it slows you hit the sweet spot and just let it be.

What a mission to have to clean it monthly. Even MJs don't need cleaning that much. LOL, buy junk, get junk. Let's see the fist start to fly!

I think Porko had the same issue with his WP40. Mine are still sitting in the box, might just run my MP10s for my new project since I have them already.

The pump is powerful so I never run it at full strength. When it slows down I increase the power. So I could go about two months without cleaning but it takes ten minutes to clean a powerhead.

Yeah but that's avoiding the problem. I guess if you have a large tank then an oversized pump is ok. A lot of people bought it for size, looks, and controllability... questioned the quality and now we hear feedback.

Nobody wants to defend the product or is everyone experiencing the same issue? I bought an extra impeller for the WP25 for easy swap out. I haven't used mine but I already know it's gunk build up on the impeller and partially where the impeller goes into.

I know cleaning these things is easy, but its still a PITA. You have to take it out, take it apart, you drip water all over the floor, baby sit it for a while, put it back together, get your hands back in the tank, etc....I'm all for maintaining equipment, I routinely take my pumps out and do a vinegar soak, but once a month is excessive. Just my observations and opinions. Again, not hating. But everyone seems to love these pumps and bashes ecotech for their high prices, etc. Now, the ecotech prices don't seem so high anymore, LOL! Not trying to start a war, but people considering these pumps need to know the reality.

Wow, I never cleaned mine. Been like 8 months. I guess im in for a surprise.

Why would this clog quicker than any other?

Cleaning a skimmer pump or return pump every month is excessive but ten minutes for a powerhead. I'm all for less work in this hobby. God knows we do a lot with everything we stay on top of but I'll take the once a month cleaning over a dirty mp that's 5x the cost.

Never cleaned my stuff since setting it up . . .How do you clean the powerheads? Just drop them in a bucket of Vinegar and let them sit or turn them on?

Mike, it must be the bigger intake but if you cleaned yours you'll notice a huge difference in flow. Sometimes when you have multiple heads there is always flow throughout the tank so you don't notice.

Same thing happened with my 25's.. which I blame for the death of 1-2 fishes when I finally stuck my hand in there I noticed it was not pumping water at its full potential. I read up on it and sure enough once cleaned they were good to go. Ive since upgraded to a wp40 and leave it on w1 when I notice the wave slow down ill know its time for cleaning so far its been a while with no issue

yea there's another thread here where many others have chimed in and most would agree monthly cleanings will keep the pump working at its full potential. When I had my wp25 in my biocube 29, i had a power dimmer on the supply, and even dialed down in w1 the pump would blow sand around. After a month when it built up the slime and debris on the impeller shaft, the pump would slow down and i could use it on else mode and even raise the power more.
