Jebao WPs bog down quick?

The slime and such is build up from the heat since the shaft magnets and power are in the same area. Now with Vortechs, this is eliminated since the power is on the outside of the tank. I should be a Vortech sales person. :)

Speaking of which, I need to clean my sump pump this weekend... oh wait I have to help Rovi set up his Apex. Can't wait to flicker his lights on and off and scare him.

LOL, you can clean your pumps this weekend. I'm patient, LOL! Plus, wife's B-Day Saturday, may have a few minutes to work on the Apex Sunday:wildone:

A big part of the gunk build up is the food. I tend to feed meaty foods and don't place the powerhead in feed mode. so I get all the food being sucked up into the power head and spit out. if you feed pellets for example and also put it in feed mode then the powerhead will last many months.

I agree with the above. I never shut down my powerhead when feeding and I think thats why it slows down over a month or two.

Um sure... doesn't make much sense. The prop is spinning, food doesn't get sucked into the impeller... it gets blown. Heat is what causes the build up to form. If what you guys are saying is true the all power heads will clogged, they don't have a feed mode on most either...

Tunze pumps don't have this problem either, Porko ran his for as a matter of fact, he never cleaned them even when he had first bought them used from Chuck, the same guy who sold you his Reef Savvy tank treetopflyn

It def sounds like it might be an issue for some. I wonder if has anything to do with the lighting and placement? I have mine 1/2 way down the in the back corner of the tank. It probably gets the least amount of light possible in my tank.

How about a reverse mode for a few seconds?

How about a reverse mode for a few seconds?

Seems like my wp40's intake area is what gets clogged up probably by food:) I've been thinking if you could hit a button on the controller called cleaning mode throwing into reverse maybe that would help? I need to do some experimenting. I don't think it would help the magnet area getting clean but the fins on the intake area might clean up?
