I have been working on this project for a while now. The tank is 96" by 18" by 29" tall which puts it at like 200 gallon. I have the tank close to being done, just waiting on the sponsership from wells fargo lol . The tank is planned out to have a decent amount of flow through a CL and main return. The pictures here are of the aquascaping which i used marco rock foam and epoxy then sand. I have tried to keep alot of open space for the corals to grow. I didnt want the norm rock wall look, so i created some islands that some connect with back wall and sides. Using acrylic rod I am trying to keep some of the rock out of dsb. Here is list os equipment that is already hooked up or soon will be...

lighting- 3 (250 watt) 12k reeflux on coralife elec. ballast housed in lumenarc minis.

flow- closed loop through an oceans motions(going to run multiple penductors, using a pan world 250 for this. A hammerhead for the main return, this pump will also provide water to refugium and skimmer. I figure flow will be somewhere in the 30x hour range.

skimmer- A mrc recirculating mr2r model hooked up to pan world pump.

calcium- Geo calcium reactor

and a reactor to run phoshate removal.
I always welcome ? and advise so feel free to comment on my build.

since you already have your tank it's too late for me to ask why 18'' deep? But anyway I like the aquascape. For the pump I would use the hammerhead for the Cl and use the pan world 250 for the return.

I picked up the tank years ago used at a lfs. The depth isnt the greatest but it works. I rather have it about 24 but whatcha gonna do... I wanted the pan world for the cl because of the penductors im planning on using, needed a good pressure rated pump seeing how its going to run 4 of them.

Good build Jer... I think what Anthony is saying is that the Hammerhead is rated for like 5000 gph or more. There's no way you can get that much water thru your sump. I have Barracudas on my CL and my return which are rated for 4300 gph at 0 ft head and I have to tune the return pump down to about half flow... Other wise my two 1.5" drain pipes make it sound like South Florida during Hurricane season and there's so much water flowing thru my sump... it sound like a class 5 rapids.

They all warned me too... but, I didn't listen.

barracuda is a powerful pump and your overflow might not be able to drain it fast enough. Even if you split it to other equipment you might have to reduce the flow by turning the ball valve down and waste the electricity on the pump. If you have to much flow going through your sump then other problem might occure like micro bubbles.

The skimmer will take about 600gph and the refugium is going to require about the same if not more. There is 3 outlets to main display, thinking of using 3 penductors on these as well, so instead of turning down pump the penductors will limit some flow. I understand whats being said, I entered the amount of elbows and t's in program here once, said I was going to lose some, leave me with somethhing like 3500-4000 to tank. I bought that pump because I planned it to run more than one item. I also changed my overflow around a little. Instead of teeth I used an extruded plastic mesh and foamed and epoxied it.

The one thing is that all the bulkheads and plumbing for the CL were done with 1" plumbing, and the hammerhead inlet outlet are1.5 wouldnt this screw the flow up as well. I would prob. have to tune it down that direction to. You really cant see it but inside the rock on the sides of tank is the plumbing its all 3/4"

The smaller returns will affect the head pressure a little... but, you won't be able to use all the the Hammerhead can produce anyways. What is that pump to the left of your sump?

When you slow down a pump... you restrict it on the outlet, never the inlet... so your ball valve is in the right place.

thats the pan world for the skimmer, its a recirc. skimmer so 2 pumps one to feed the skimmer one to push becketts. I have thought about switching those 2 pumps before. but when i tested them out the pan world on the cl was very strong as it was, and that pump is rated 2000 gph - I cant even imagine 3x that amount by using hammerhead on cl. either way i use hammer i think a little tuning down will be needed. what do you think of putting 3 penductors on oulets of hammer?

There is also a pic of the sump which is elevated higher than sump so gravity will bring it back to sump. sorry the pics arent the greatest. most everything is going to have to be touched up alittle before bringing the tank into house.

I dont plan on using a chiller here since i keep my house at 78 year round, so the 2 outside fans bring air in and the 2 inside take air out. There is 2 a/c vents directly above where the outside fans will be. They can be tilted up or down as well they are 5"
