Do you supplement light in the winter or shade during the summer?

What's your latitude?

27 S , yeh I run leds into the evening, pushing the photoperiod to 14 hours, a little long, but I love being able to view the tank after a long day at work.

The tank gets a lot of ambient light and some direct, I've only recently set it up so time will tell but I don't see a need for shading as it's summer now.

I'm at 41 S and use direct sunlight. Last summer, practically all the purple coralline died. I thought it must be an issue with the water but everything checked out OK. Late this fall, it came back with a vengeance. This summer, I'll shade with blue ChromatiNet.
