You can use any adjustable power supply. Look up universal ac adapter on amazon. I know frys electronics has them. Both places have them for about $8

Why do we need one?
I will ask them if they have something like this.

You can use it to lower the amount of power the pump uses, which will decrease flow. From the other threads I read, it's really helpful for smaller tanks.

Could the price increase affect us on our group buy?
I had a feeling they were going to try to up the price..

The variable voltage adapter is an ad on fish-street started doing since many people were buying them anyway. It allows you to dial back the max speed of the pump (more important for 150 gal or smaller tanks. There is some talk on the main thread about whether this is ok for the pump to be dialed back, but no one has had a problem yet.

I see... but I thought the WP40 has a controller to adjust flow?
Anyway, I may go for WP25 once they released it.
I asked them about the WP25, it is still in experimental, and the price will be close to WP40.

You don't need a power adjuster. It only helps if you want to slow down the speed of the pump.

The adjustable version that is being offered by Fish-Street I don't believe is being made by Jebao and therefore you could not get it if you are buying directly from the manufacturer.

I think the controller for the pump just adjusts the intervals between the ramp up and ramp down on the pump itself. Geemanaz or any one else that currently has the WP40, can you give us a little insight on this?

The knob on the controller adjusts the frequency of the wave but not the strength.

By reducing the voltage of the motor you are there by slowing it down and it put out a softer wave for smaller tanks.

The strength of the wave was to strong for my 55 gallon tank and I'm currently slowing it down with a variable voltage controller like the one listed above.

People thought (and still think) that using that will cause the pump to run hotter and thereby shorten the life of it.

This has not been proven one way or the other yet.
In fact someone on the main WP40 thread just ran it at 24V in a 5 gallon bucket over night and then again at 15v over night and there was only a 1 degree difference.

No problem.
It's been a lot of reading and following of the main WP40 thread, but I've gained a lot of knowledge about this pump and how it works.

Put me in for one (DOC UPDATED)! Nice, wanted to take the plunge and now got the opportunity!

Thanks for putting this together.

Actually got two, figure if one doesn't last too long, I will have a back up for cheap. If it last, maybe I will set up another tank :)

***UPDATE***

UP to now, the payment has passed 50%! Thanks guys. Help me to notify the people who haven't paid if you know him/her.

New potential buyer, yes, you can join as long as I didn't put a stop sign in the shared file.
(I can foresee there will be drop-outs will keep everyone posted. Number I will be ordering is 80 but they said I can delete/add a few before ship date)

Out-of-state-ors, don't need to ask for my permission, yes, you can join, the shipping will be $10 flat for 4 units or less.

Ciao~:love2:

Just realized i might have a problem with purchase of these pumps.

I have searched and search with no information on the strength of the magnets.

My tank is 1 inch thick acrylic.

Frank, could you email them and ask them the ability of the magnets.

Will do.
I think you will have problem with 1inch crylic. I have seen it somewhere talked about the maximum thickness can't remember where.
