July Meeting - July 27 - thefuz reef and bbq

Hiya folks,

I'll be hosting the July meeting at my place. Sausage and Peppers on the grill for lunch/snacking.

Topics:
Come see my 90 gallon mixed reef and hear my tales of woe and success "beating" the mighty hair algae monster (photo expose coming soon to this thread).

Also on tap will be the new custom LED setup powering my algae scrubber (thanks to scolley for all the advice!)

I know Collin and Saltychick are going to the opening of Headie Corals in North Haven after the meeting... Anyone else planning on making their way up that way after the meeting? I will be heading to the opening after the meeting as well....

How would you guys feel about me making a strawberry rhubarb pie? I'm a pastry chef by day and Collin just harvested rhubarb from the garden and we aren't really sure what we should do with all of it...

Wow! I'm always up for rhubarb pie! Especially when made by an expert!

What a great idea - that sounds delicious and I don't have dessert covered yet (the front side of the meal is more my specialty). Thanks!!

Speaking of Saturday, looks like we have about 6 so far for attendance. Any others out there? Want to make sure I have enough grub!

Also, let me know if you have a particular preference with hot or sweet sausage. I usually get an equal mix but prefer to get more hot if I can get away with it - hot is more better!!

I'm there, plus will be bringing a few small frags that I've got to get rid of. Birdsnests and Poli's. Since we're not raffling, they'll be free - first come, first serve.

I have two urchins also if anyone wants them. Great for munching on hair algae. There's not much food left in my tank for them and I've taken to feeding them nori so they don't starve.

I will gladly take the urchins, if you are getting rid of them...

Totally informal and great to have your son along. He might be solo though. Not sure anyone else will have kids. We're all kids of a sort though!

So instead of going to buy strawberries in the pie that Saltychick is making, I have some wineberries I suggested might go really well with my rhubarb. So if they pass the taste test, its going to be a new type of pie!
