July National Geographic

Hey guys, if you haven't checked out the latest National Geographic, then you should. There's a reef article. It's about a reef called Kingman Reef, which is part of the Line Islands (about 1000 miles south of Hawaii)...it says.

It's been a national wildlife refuge since 2001 and is predator dominated. There's pics of a fangtooth blenny and a giant coral that to me resembles a huge plating montipora but they say it's likely a new species of coral.

Anyways...worth a read. Check it out!

HEY! I made a post that wasn't all stuff and nonsense!

Funny, I just finished reading that article :) It was an interesting one, and of course the pictures in there are always unbelievable; I think I spend more time looking at them than it takes to read the text...

It was neat to see the fang blenny shot too. I've become a big fan of blennies lately; cool fish. Too bad they have to hide all the time there :(

The predator-dominated reef with high-turnover of prey fishes looks very different, but I wonder if other reefs were more like that before we ate the big fish?!

Definitely worth a look!
