June Meeting

I leave for two weeks on the 29th so as long as it is before that I'll be there.

I vote for the 29th! Just joking Chris. 17th sounds like a plan. Hey Steve, My wife wants the recipe for your bean dip. Awesome. :D Michael R

I could do it on the 17th but feel that dads need to be w/ their families that weekend so I am making it the following weekend, Sunday the 24th starting at about 2:00 pm, the address is 1209 Jeanette Ave, vinton Va 24179. hope to see everyone here, pretty simple to get here

Hey All, Thanks Steve for hosting, I've had a lot of different things going on lately but I am most certainly gonna try and be there. Is there anything Steve you need anybody to bring? besides beer

hey everyone, it's me again, and I'm thinking I should just cancel this meeting at my house, my tank looks like crap and I really think I'm going to tear it down and start all over again, will be housing some fish in my 90 but may need to get rid of a few really nice fish, so unless I hear from some peeps, I'm pulling the plug on my meet, sorry but the more I look at it the worse it gets, I have dipped several zoos lately cause they are not opening all the time, on a piece of rock ~ 3" I'm getting 30-40 little star fish, they are everywhere.

i doubt the starfish are the cause of your problems....but more so a sign of that many starfish probably just means there is alot of decay and extra organic matter for them to consume.

chris and i just got in some harliquen (sp?) shrimp to take care of our starfish problems and they worked wonders, i think one shrimp cleaned out his entire tank at home in a matter of weeks.

i can still make it on the 24th if need be as long as i dont need to rush out of town at the last minute, so i'm still in.

stars

Do harliquen shrimp eat asterina stars? I have some in my tank and I have only seen them on a corals that is going south, other than that they are on the glass eating algae.

I bought a Harlequin shrimp and he seems to be eating them, and I'm not sure that the starfish are my problem, but I do feel that I need to take the rock out and cook it for awhile, but if people are still interested I can still host. just let me know, so hows about a vote and heads up on who and how many can make it? Thanks everyone, Steve

I will go with what ever you feel you would want to do, give me a shout if you need a hand with youir tank if you end up breaking it down.
Ade

Steve .. We will be there if you have it ... I think you should in my opinion.... Best way to fix it is to have a bunch of experienced reefers there and getting their elbows wet ...

If you have the meet Ill be there, its your call I guess it depends on how discouraged you get, and I know how frustrating
it can get from my own experiences. And I am sure most have seen some hard times.

If you decide not, I could possibly host a meet the 30th.

Just go for it I have some pieces I need to find some homes for, Mostly softies.

cool, lets do it, i'll be looking forward to seeing everyone

did you ever get a chance to test for amonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2)???

and what things have you already tested for again? i cant remember....

i'll be ready to bring all my test kits, meters etc. lol

but i think in the end....its just gonna come down to starting over by sticking all your rock in a trashcan and cooking it until your amonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3), and phosphates (PO4) are all reading zero.

get rid of your sand bed completely, and put down a new sand bed etc.

its the only way to be sure.

Alex, thanks for the offer to bring the kits, I have tested No3 frequently and it stays about 50 now. But I do not have the other test kits you are referring to. If you would, I'd appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing everybody. Steve
