Just a little bit of overkill

I thought I would show this beast skimming a 46 bow with a 29 sump. I really bought it so I could use it when I upgrade to my 120 with in the next year. I bought it from Brad because it was a good deal. I was going to let it set but Bob, Eric and I decided to put it on my 46 bow. Since I have no experience with recirc skimmers I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to set it up. It is a MRC MR-2R with a blueline 55 recirc pump fed by a mag 7. I haven't got any skimmate and it has been set up since sun night. You can see the brown crud on the bottom tube in the pic. I have messed with the h2o level in the skimmer as well as the air flow. The top of the bubbles is just below the 2nd chamber any suggestions would be awesome. I don't have a huge bio-load just 2 perc clowns. here are some pics..

Thanks for the help

Welcome to the club. I thought my MR-1 on a 75G was overkill. You don't have a whole lot of bioload so I would run the water level farely high. The line with the brown crud is were you would start developing dry skim. With a bioload of only two fish your water is going to have to be way high.
Did Brad sell you a Auto waste collector too?
If not I have a Milk jug setup that works really good.,

He didn't. I saw that on the website and thought about buying it. But I would be interested in seeing the milk jug. I assume this just shuts off the skimmer once the collector is full.

Not exactily pretty but the price is right... Free. Anyway if MR-2s drain hose is 1/2 inch like the MR-1 you can use a milk jug for a auto waste collector. You just cram the hose down thru the handle. When the jug fills to the bottom of the handle on the jug(about half way) the air start bubbling thru the collected skimmate. That make back pressure on the air getting sucking in and the skimmer stop overflowing.
Here a pic

Your getting skim its just solid crud. Your just going to have to run the water farely far up into the neck before you will get liquid skim. So the milk jug will probaly be a good idea.

skimmer is working well. it started flowing bubble a couple of days ago. I just cleaned it tonight by just rinsing the tubes so it isn't up to full potential agian. It had all kind of gunk on the inside.
