Just moved about 2.5 months ago and upgraded my equipment for an acro dominated tank...here is pics of 2 new peices...unknown acro and monti

Can anyone ID the acro? also...the monti doesnt looks so good but i got it dirt cheap let me know what you think as I have never kept monti's and only a few acro in a mixed reef prior to this tank.

Acro is doing very well...good PE....monti is just sort of drab and i dont see too much in the way of polyps

Pics were taken with dirt old digi camera(1.3 megapixels...lmao)(also my first time posting pics on RC and i hope it works)

Id is greatly appreciated on the acro....thanks everyone

Looks like my brown mili with green polyps an tip. Also brown monti cap with evergreen polyps when they come out. I have the same one also.

LFS told me it was a millie too...but LFS says a whole lot of things

i really didnt think it was a millie but now you are saying it..

anyone else got any ideas....

yeah the cap sucks...it is brownish but i dont think it is supposed to be brown though..it was in a subpar tank at the lfs and i got it for virtually nothing to see what it would do

gotta bump this before it gets tossed way down the list....

ID please....it is acting like a millie today.......lots of PE all day long!!!!! looks like a ball of cat hair when the lights go off though

yup...i looked around for some similar pics....usually in a green or blue color...

likely... A.millepora, A. aspera, A.prostrata...........most likely a millie

most millies i see are short and stubby with longer branches and more number.....this one is one long branch then splits out..i think it was due to the flow it was under thus changed its growth pattern from what i am used to seeing

yeah looks like its gonna table up to the extent it can now....the flow at the LFS i got it from was nothing compared to the flow its getting now..we will see.

displays millie like qualities.....great PE all day...and night get EXTREME PE

im gonna chock it up as a millie unless someone comes along and says otherwise

Don't give up hope on that monti either... I purchased one like that and it's now green w/ blue polyps and a purple growth edge. Part of the fun of brownies... you just never know. =)

I think the monti is supposed to be all green...you can see it has a prominent brown background....some spots are really brown and it looks like there isnt much in the way of green or polyps

Thats part of the reason i got it MEL....first two SPS in this tank since the move....wanted to see how the tank is doing...if this monti colors up real well i know that things are going well(i only payed 15 bucks so its worth the shot)

Already tonight...it looked alot greener especially with just actinics on...also the millie is showing even more PE and color since i got it in only 48 hours...amazing how things can go if you are careful and do things right....

How are those t5's working for colors for you? I put 6 t5's on my fuge/frag tank and the yellow milles are still yellow, but my green mille turned a little brown, and a pink birdsnest turned pink/yellow/green....

I am using 5 aquablues, and 1 6500k

Using my 4 250 20 k helios + sunlight my colors are spectacular....

I just moved and got tank back up and running July 13th. Used most of my old live rock and about 33% of the old water. PUt in a SB and didnt like not being able to keep the tank clean. So i went on a 3 week process of making it BB...ive been BB about a month now. I sold all the old coral out of the tank and turned it into an Acro dominated tank, so I havent been running T5's long.
These were the first two coral added to the tank,,,so I have a ways to go, but....

I am running 2 ATI Blue Plus(i will always use these in any combo, I really like them) 1 ATI aquablue(12K), and 1 GE daylight...

I am going to switch out the GE for either another Aquablue or ATI sun pro...i just dont like the idea of GE...or I may do 2 sun pros just depends on how the corals react that I am starting to stock.

So far...the crocea i have loves the T5s and Ive had it for a month..right when i went BB. He did fine on the bottom...but i moved him up a few inches for good measure. Crocea doing solid.

The green monti has already colored up a bright green compared to when i got it 3 days ago...the Millie or Robusta(gonna hve to check on that PUGroyale..thanks) has great PE and is getting a bright lime green all over the brownish/grape base. For 3 days they are really coloring up...but as i say i havent been running the T5's long and part of the time i was getting ready to stock the tank so we shall see, but these 2 new additions are really coloring up in only 3 days!! Cant wait to add some of the more rare Acros and LE stuff.

So far very promising on the T5's...I look forward to putting up a tank all grown out in a year or 2 with the T5s and saying bling bling.

Franky..I like the idea of T5's on a smaller tank like this 55g(when it grows out ill get a large tank and make the 55 a sump or an anemone tank or something) but when this upgrade occurrs i will probably go MH. The MH on a 55 was too much heat and i would have needed a chiller so i went T5 that and i wanted to prove you could create a gorgeous Acro tank with them and i know i can.

Why did you switch to T5's? ARe they on the 225?? Are you not liking the colors?

I looked at alot of Robusta pics and they all show very different corals...i think some are wrong in their ID and some arent. This coral looks similar to a couple of the pics in the way the branches form but thats about it. Still up in there as to a 100% ID on the Acro. Im still leaning millie but robusta could be a possibility.

Maybe the guy from reefer madness can swing through the thread and give his crack at it!!!

Found nudis on the underside of the monti...I think i am going to trash it rather than deal with it...oh well...tank is gonna be all acros anyways

I have a monti that is brown but it's supposed to be so u never know. I wouldn't have taken it if it didn't have wonderful purple polyps :D
