Just another dead jaebo 12000 return pump..

The vinegar cleaned it out and now works as normal.. well on the bright side i have a backup pump on the way now..

Jrp thanks bro. Always solid help here on reef central..

Damn it I jumped the gun.. I left in on overnight to clean out some more and it was dead at 7am. I will have to look at it tonight more and see but at least it did run some...

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Ecotech vectra. I had one of those RW pumps go out on me after 6 months of use. I have a Jebao return pump running now for over a year. I feel it's about to fail really any time now.

Mine lasted about two years. I had a backup of course, but I picked up a Vectra Monday.

This upgrade is about reliability of course, but also the increase in head pressure. The head pressure on the Jebao pumps is pretty lousy.

yeah just got the dct 15000 in and its like twice the size of my old one. Problem is that the sump I have someone cut the glass for external pumps and I had bulkheads that I glued pvc to to close it off but now the pump for sure wont fit. the old one fit perfectly..

do they make bulkhead to just fill holes cut in glass?

My 1200 stopped working after a wc this past Monday. The 1200 stopped working because it was packed with gunk and seized. When I removed the 4 screws on the cover over the impeller one of them was sheered and wasn't screwing in all the way and not making a good seal, which is why the pump seized. So much for QC...or the lack of.
I have the spare on the tank now and cleaned out the seized one and it is working like new again.

Anbosu - Did you get the M1 or the L1? I'm thinking of the bigger one just so I have room to push water to different things down the road. How much more head pressure did you think you got by upgrading?

Well I hate to say it, but the vinegar bath was a temporary fix for me as well. Tonight the pump shut itself off for no good reason. The impeller was spinning perfectly fine, it just decided there was a fault and shut itself off. I put my backup Mag 9.5 on for now, but I'll be getting a new pump since my Mag likes to trip my GFCI. Since I don't even use the controllable features (it plays hell with my beananimal overflow) I think I'll just replace it with a traditional AC pump.

It's worth pointing out that since switching to my backup Mag 9.5, I haven't had to touch the gate valve to adjust my bean animal overflow a single time. Previously with the DCT pump, I'd have to fiddle with it almost daily to keep the thing dialed in. I thought it had something to do with how I setup the plumbing, but now I suspect the DCT just wasn't putting out consistent flow.
