We just went and checked out the 75 gallon aquarium that I found on Craigslist this am. It was even nicer than I thought it would be, loaded with beautiful Live Rock and a few Corals. It has been set up for 4 years and has everything that is needed for $400. Now I just have to break it down and get it moved tomorrow. Wish us luck.

Wow, that was quick. What kind of corals did you get with it? Does it comes with four 65W power compact bulbs in the coralife fixture?

Some people seem to feel that using bio balls will elevate the nitrate level a lot, but if proper tank maintenance and regular water changes are done, you can maintain your tank with bio balls without causing nitrate build-up.
Bacteria on bio balls are very efficient in breaking down harmful ammonia into nitrate which is pretty harmless at a low level. As long as you do not overstock your tank, overfeed your livestock and perform regular water changes, nitrate should not build up. However, some people love to feed their livestock or slack off on water changes and nitrate builds up. When this happens, they often resort to ditching bio balls.
If you have a big enough wet dry filter, I believe that the suggestion Monica made regarding chaetomorpha/macro algae is going to work well for you. If your wet/dry filter is very small, you might consider using it simply as a means to circulate water and a place to put a bag of activated carbon or phosphate remover.
