just bought my first bta

right now it's fully attached to the rock, but deflated and sagging. but, was like that last night, and was good to go this am. what a STRANGE creature!! will keep my fingers crossed. good luck JC!! don't give up on the BTA's!!

actually i have given up, i picked up a bubble coral yesterday, if im going to try any anemone it must be sand dwelling. Im going to cover all rockwork with lps. my lighting is not strong enough for a haddoni or LTA so im going to upgrade in a month or so to a 150w sunpod. im going to leave a big open area on the sand

i was trying to feed mine squid. guess i will try silversides. will have to get some later today.

What size pieces? Pencil-eraser size is the largest recommended. I've had good luck with whole mysis, chopped shrimp, scallop, and squid pieces, as well as formula one thawed in tank water. I have yet to have any of my bta's eat silversides, even when cut in 1/4" pieces. But if yours will eat it by all means chop some up for them.

just a little smaller than a pencil eraser. now, do you just place food on the tentacles? or over it's mouth? my false percs do not at this time have any interest in my BTA. hopefully they will host it.

If its tentacles are sticky enough to hold food, and it can move it to its mouth in a couple minutes time, then tentacles are fine. If it can't do that, yeah, you may have to hold the food against its mouth (don't force it unless you really think it's starving).

It's for the best that the clowns aren't hosting yet, they could stress the bta out more and make it harder to get it to eat.

i bought some silversides tonight. doesn't want to eat. had to scoot away my cleaner shrimp. i just read your post. i will try to hold it in it's mouth. maybe it will eat then. it was getting rid of waste again. came home from work and it was all deflated.

now should i be concerned? i bought it on sat. it hasn't ate since i have taken it home. unlike the guy who started this post, mine had been in the same spot now. anyone know the average time it takes a BTA to acclimate to it's new home? Thanks for all the help.

well i finally tested my water and nitrates came out at 20, no wonder my anemone died, im doing a 4g w/c tomorrow and will for the next few weeks, i also ordered a 250w MH w 2 x65w pcs and i am ordering a remora skimmer as well. i added another 10lbs of lr from my 10g that i took down. i think i will be trying an LTA

oh no.
can someone help me?

yesterday, my bta was walking around and it attached itself over my new feather duster that i had just put in the tank.
and so i tried to separate them, which i finaly did.
but i guess i should have just left them alone cuz when i got home today from school,
and little section of my anemone looks all dead.
will my whole nem die?
what should i do??
