just collected zoa/paly colonies

What do you guys do when your store brings in newly collected colonies of zoa/palys on live rock? Dip the whole rock? If so in what? What happens if the rock is iffy on smell? Do you try to frag them off the rock if that's the case? I just normally made sure no air bubbles were trapped in the rock and I'd be fine. BUT there were times when the whole colony would melt also..... Just getting people two cents.

Nope, please never dip live rocks!

Nope, if the rock is smelling rotten it probably has dead organisms and/or the rock haven't cured yet.

Zoa colony melting is a problem with the zoanthids themselves. When on live rocks you'll need to remove the dead rotten zoas and hope for the best. No dipping them with the live rock. Things will get worse if you do that.
