Just curious about mixing black and orange occellaris.

I was thinking about taking down my 15 Gallon tank to dedicate all my time to the 29 gallon. I adore Cerbie, my black ocellaris, and I couldn't stand to get rid of him. In my 29 I have a two orange and white ocellaris, not yet paired but interested in each other. Persephone is about two inches long, and Bryn is about an inch long. Cerbie is also about an inch long. How risky would it be to try to bring in the black and white with the two oranges because of color differences?

My aquascaping may help a bit, as I have two seperate rock mounds, each with their own little caves.

I had two regular ocellarius, and one black for about 6 months (they came together). It was all fine until the oranges matured, and then I had to take him out.

It may be fine initially, but eventually one of the three will be killed off by whatever pair matches up.

IMO its not iffy. Im almost positive the dominant pair will kill off the third one especially in such a small tank.

i actually mixed our clowns (maroon, two black and an orange) and they all got along (tank raised) in a 125 gallon - our situation is not considered normal... the one black died and then the orange mated with the remaining black and currently laying eggs with the maroon staying on the other side of the tank and the orange visiting to keep him a submissive male... if desired, you can see pics and read more in my "inter-racial clowns layed eggs" in the breeding forum.... good luck with whatever you decide.

other thought, you may pull out all clowns in separate tank, and significantly change the tank environment / rocks - then re-introduce them all together and/or add a 4th one to the mix at the same time. of course, you may want to have a fall back plan is to keep the other tank up for a few weeks to pull them out before they get hurt and find a new home.

the color difference wont effect anything, however, having more than two clowns in 1 small tank never ends well
