I was looking around glass cages and they now offer a "rim less tank"
I was looking at those, and even thought they look neat. I wonder. Wouldn't making the tank rim less increase the chance of the tank bowing. There appears to be no support on the top of these tanks at all.

Most of the pressure from a tank is at the bottom seams...I think I read it is around 70% of the force of the water is at the bottom. Properly built rimless tanks are fine.

i have a rimless tank, mine is 1/2" acrylic and it bows about 1/8" at the top

Dennis that is a zeroedge tank.

All most the same thing.

The rimless they are talking about is our tanks from Glasscages with out the erro(sp) bracing across the top.. I myself would not go with a tank over 75 gal's that didn't have the bracing.

Thinking about picking me up rimless frag tank 8-10" deep from them some time this year.... Maybe!!

lonnie, they have some sweet short tanks, they have a 48x48x8 square tank for less than 300 bucks...pretty solid unit

To be mathematically correct. Exactly 66.6666666666666% of the load is at the bottom. This kind of math is something I do everyday for a living, so take my word for it.

I like the 48 x 24 3/4 x 6 or 8" then maybe later adding the same size above that tank once thing start growing.

the 48x48 I just don't have the room, well the room but would not be able to walk around it like I would like being a cube.
