Just dropped the Interceptor Bomb tonight

I used half a tablet, my total system volume is about 85 gallons. I took the cup off the skimmer and dropped the tablet uncrushed into a high flow area of the sump.

Is there really any need to do a follow up dose? I plan on running carbon tommorrow and putting all my crabs and shrimp back in a week if I don't do a 2nd treatment.

This was my Christmas present to my tank, I sure hope it doesn't kill everything

I used a whole tablet on my 75 without any problems. No signs of any red bugs since, you won't regret it.

Just curious, never used interceptor. What effects does it have on shrimps and crabs? Is there any effect on clams or echinoderms (sea urchins) that you know? Can something other than interceptor be used such as sentinel? Do you know what ingredients/chemicals are needed?

Thanks

It will likely kill all crustaceans including shrimp and crabs in your tank. I removed all of mine before treatment and placed them in a rescue tank that I will use as a quarantine tank from now on.

The active ingredient, Milbemycin Oxime, is lethal to nematodes (roundworms) and some arthropods. It’s a chitin synthesis inhibitor, as far as I've seen or read it has no effect on clams urchins or anything other than crustaceans: shrimp, crabs, pods, etc.

i droped a whole pill in the 58

i was scared but tryed the dosing 3 times and still had red bugs so i just tryed it

Well, it didn't kill all my pods; I've seen plenty in the past few days large and small. I guess only time will tell if the RBs come back. I'm going to keep my crabs and shrimp in the rescue tank for a couple more weeks just in case I need to dose again. If I notice any more RBs I'm going to dose a full pill.
