Just found a pump shorted out

I just found one of my Rio Seio M620 pump's plug shorted out, the area was not wet and the extension cord was blackened. I the extension cord was the cord but when I plugged the pump into a new extension cord I saw a few small spark’s and then saw a small trail of smoke between the hot leg of the plug the ground leg of the plug.

Has anyone heard about this kind of thing from other Rio pumps that are being used continuously?

I have another of the same pump in my tank all seems well with it.

Any suggestions of another brand and model pump to use?

I always heard Rio pumps do this often. My Seio 620 kept jamming and stuttering right out of the box. It's in my garage now.

I thought the SEIO line was supposed to be improved over the old RIO line.
I have had no problems yet with my SEIO 820.

My Quiet Ones give me trouble. Usually if you can catch it before it burns out some maintenance will help restore it.
