just got a bigger tank

hi everybody.

i have 30 gallon tank, about 30 pounds LR,3-4" LS.
yesterday my wife surprise me with new 46 gallon bow tank and stand.
first, i would like to get yours opinion about bow tanks.
second, any advice regarding transfering from my 30 gallon to the new 46 bow tank.
and last, what i can do with the 30 gallon tank after transfering to the new tank.

I have a 46 bow tank and like it well enough. I do not have a sump or fuge. I only have 4 fish in it and some polyps. I am using this tank as a training tank in preparation for the 90 AGA that is coming this Monday.

As to your transfer, I think the most important things are that the salinity match and temperature. I would put all the rock in first after the water and substrate has been added. I would then put the fish in last.

Is this tank drilled etc. are you going to have a sump, fuge? What type of Protein Skimmer do you have for it?

Sounds like you will have a fun time this weekend.

You might want to set up a quarantine tank for the meantime until your water parameters stabilize. Then you can start adding your inhabitants. You might notice that your parameters will jump from moving the substrate from one tank to the other. Good luck with the 46 Bowfront i am going to be setting one up myself within the next couple of weeks. Just finishing up the canopy.

I had a 46 gallon Bowfront freshwater. Nice tank. Should be able to set up nice rockwork etc. PatMayo, if you don't mind my asking what did the 90 gallon run you? I am in the early planning stages of a 90...

patmayo, this tank not drilled,
i have aqua c remora, 2 900 maxjet powerheads, T5,
and i don't know if i am going to have a sump or fuge.

E&S it should be fiine. I like mine however I didn't have the space so I couldn't hook up a sump. If there is anyway you can hook one up I would and I would get the biggest you can.

i am going to have space in the stand, so i dont know if to try to make the 30 gallon empty tank a sump.
