How with-drawn should the corals look. I know they will have a soft tissue that comes from each head but should I be able to see any of this tissue.

We have had an ice storm so instead of getting the corals over night it took two days. I just got them and have placed them in a qt tank. On the torch and frog I can barley see any of the tissue in the center of the coral would you think it is going to make it? I have not turned the lights on yet but I will at 5:30. Does anyone have an experience in this?

Sometimes torches and frogspawn will shrivel all the way inside the skeleton and not come out for a while. They're just stressed right now. Give them a few days and see what happens.

Thanks guys. They didn't smell bad and the water was clear. The main reason I am asking it because they come with a 24 hour guarantee. I will try to take some pictures and post them tonight. Is there anything special I should do? I am thinking about moving them into my main tank because I have better lighting in there. I only have 2 65 w pc lights to go over the 20 gallon qt tank.

i'd think they'll be ok in that lighting if they're not already going to die. i would say contact the person about the guarentee and tell them you think they're dead. if they come back you can call and apologize if not then you've got your guarentee

I already contacted them and they want me to forward some pictures. I am going to take some pictures tonight and send the pictures to them and see what they say.

You'd be amazed at how contracted LPS can get and still be fine. I'd still send pictures ASAP, but definitely don't trash them. Had they died in transit you'd know it, the water would be brown and foul. Some of the most beautiful Euphyllias we received at the store looked like nothing but a skeleton when first unpacked.
The concern is warranted, but I think you're fine. If the business does give you credit but the corals turn out to be fine, be a stand up person and notify them of the outcome. Taking advantage of someone's good faith gets us all hosed.

I am starting to feel much better thanks. How long do they take to come out usually? I am at work now so I can not send the pictures yet, becasue they are at home.

the brain is a neon green brain. The skeleton has allot of color on it, is there anything else I should look for to see if it is going to make it?

Try slightly basting any coral tissue that is visible. Healthy tissue will stay intact while unhealthy tissue will slough off the coral heads.

So I got home and about an hour after I turned on the lights all of the corals had extension. I am going to be very happy with them. thanks for all of your help
