Just got my cinnamon clownfish

I ordered him from liveaquaria. He was a tank bred fish that came from Europe apparantly.

Any ways, he's really active, feeding well so far, and doesn't seem shy at all. The only concern I have is that he seems to be following his reflection in the glass all over the place. I know with my freshwater fish they did this for about a week or two and then stopped. Is this the same for my clown?

Sorry about poor picture quality, bad camera and quick little swimmer:

fish can't see a reflection in the glass, the reason you can is you're looking through two different panes of glass, the fish doesn't have that refraction so they see outside the tank, it's just getting used to the tank and currently trying to swim beyond the glass :)

Great point JetCat,

I should have thought about if I stuck my head under water and was looking through glass I wouldn't be able to see my reflection.

Silly mistake on my part.

Thanks JetCat

You're Welcome, and don't sweat it, i see it posted all the time about the fish seeing a reflection, i guess to many people watched Finding Nemo and recall Flo :D even seen today where someone posted their Mandarin was seeing it's reflection.

I have another question.

Now that he's been in there for about 36 hours, he seems to stay in one corner and doesnt seem to move much more than 2 inches away from that corner. Is this just because he is still a little scared?

I'm also worried because when I try feeding, he is interested in the food and will eat the little bit that comes near him but won't go out side his 2 inch bubble to go get it. Any suggestions.

Also a little worried because I fed him frozen mysis shrimp, which he seems to enjoy but a lot of it he didnt eat, or wont go far enough to get. I think my water quality will take a big dive if I have to do this everytime I feed.

Need suggestions.

He may take some time to eat really well for you, it's possible he's still settling in. However, if he seems to lay in one corner (literally lay on the substrate) a lot during the day, you might have cause for concern. Watch for rapid breathing, swimming head up or head down in a low-flow area of the tank, and scratching on the rocks/sand, as well as spots or discolorations.

As far as getting the food right to him, try a turkey baster and just dropping a couple of shrimp right by him.

thats normal for young fish to do, step that up to a higher desired food and you'll have better luck, live brine or Cyclop-Eeze should get more aggression.
