Just Got My First Duncan!

I'm so happy! I just got a duncan coral, two heads with 8 babies coming out from the side. I'm not sure if mines anything special, but it glows under my blue lights. And its aquacultured.

I fed it formula one food and now its really really happy, but is it bleached? I can't tell.

And how big does each of the heads get? They are both around an inch across, I think they get bigger though.

And I bought two heads with eight babies for 99 dollars, is this a fair price?

looks good. I would think thats a great price considering they go for about $75 around these parts

These are great corals, especially when healthy. Me and a buddy got one for free at a reef club meeting 2 months ago. It has one nice head and now it is growing 4 more which are looking great. I can't wait to frag one off for myself.

Three days ago I bought a six head duncan for $70 and he gave me a deal. He said that these things grow crazy, he broght one of this same colony Duncan home, he started six heads and within 5 months he now has 32 heads.

I have both morphs you guys have and they were about the same size when I bought them. They are fast growers and the more you feed the faster they will respond. Good luck

Thanks, since the feeding, the size of each polyp (including the babies) have expanded. I should have from 2 heads to 10 in maybe a month! Maybe more since I'm feeding them like crazy.

I'm thinking of upgrading my light from 96 watt to 234 watt Nova Extreme. I think they'd be sensitive to this change, am I right? Would I need to acclimate them to it along with my other lps?

Thanks! And nice duncans!

Nice duncans :D I got my first one this week. I have to say that all the pics I've seen online don't do them justice. They really are extremely pretty corals.

Just bought one of these today. Can't wait until it comes in. The pics in this thread are going to make it the longest wait ever!

Here's a picture of my first Duncan that I got last week I checked my receipt and found that I actually paid $60 for it :D I really like these little guy's.

Here are some pics of me feeding O.N food, probably the best there is to feed your corals.

Here are the babies, which seem to feed and expand as the mother duncan head as it eats.

Its the best frozen food you could give them. Its by formula one and its meant for fish, but I think its way better suited to lps corals and some zoes.

If you start feeding this, you won't need mysid anymore, this stuff is a huge mixture of tons of different ingrediants which is good for the coral. Plus you can cut them to any size you want to fit the size of the coral.

This food is so good because as soon as it hits the tentacles of the coral, they literally won't let go. They have a much stronger grip on this stuff than they do with mysid.

Heres the link to the page where I discovered this food, it has all the info you need and can be used on any lps.
