how much did all that cost?

ANeal,

From DA it's 590 for the net package + 90 for the additional PC4. Other sites, like BRS you save up to 50 bucks on the non net package.

RKE has 2 packages:

Both have the unit (GC1), an SL1 module ( PH, Temp, 2 switchports), PH probe, Temp Probe, and 2 PC-4 power strips (8 sockets), plus the bus cables:

Base as is 490 retail, although if you search you cna get it for 30-50 under that.

Package 2 includes above, plus the net module. Net module alone is 120 bucks, but if you order RKE+Net, you save 20 bucks and get the whole package for $590.00.

Thanks for posting that, Rick. That looks quite awesome!

aireefer:

I paid $2.35 for it I think. After I sold my Aquatronica, that is. :D

If you want the best deal, buy it from Aquacave. You can get the whole package with a NET module for $550.95, and that includes free shipping. :)

Brandon

Oh, that's with a 5% discount (which is $29.00). The ReefCentral discount code for Aquacave is "RC5".

I just ordered my RKM NET... It should be here sometime this week... I've had my RKE for almost a year now... DA is sending me out the V2 Head unit, a 30' bus cable, and another SL1 so I can control one of my other systems too... :D

That's awesome, Randy! BTW, if you ever need any custom bus cables, let me or andy know. We are also working on making our own SW inputs. ;) I refuse to pay that much for a stinkin' phone cable! :D

Sean, I was fortunate and was able to sell my Aquatronica for $2 less than the RKE package I bought. I talked her into the Aquatronica because I had budgeted for an AC Jr. and a local guy was selling his Aquatronica for just a bit more than the AC Jr. was new. :D

Brandon

I wish you had told me that a couple days ago!!! lol I'll definately keep that in mind next time I need a cable...

Also found out that I needed to update my RKE... I was running update v. 07 when they're up to v. 11 now...

Andy is working on sourcing cable that is like what they use. I think we can get 100 ft. for $8 and 100 RJ12 plugs for about $5. :)

Brandon

Sure does beat paying about $1 per foot...

I can't even find any other place that carries it besides DA...

There are lots out there, it's just finding small enough quantities. I was readily able to find 1000' spools...hehehe. Just a wee bit too much. I have a source for 100' spools so we have a winner methinks. Just getting it together as time allows.

The only thing that's special about them is that they're wired straight through instead of any kind of crossovers. :)

Brandon

It is standard 6 conductor flat line cord. flat line cord is not crossed :-) Can't be flat then LOL. RJ12 is the module type the wire is terminated to, known as 6P6C RJ12.

If you need a bunch, it's not probably much cheaper, but why not just use regular RJ-12 (Sounds like DA is selling them at a high price)? Should be able to get 7 footers for less than $4 each. Or you just trying to go even cheaper?

I actually found 3' silver for 1.99, but the point was to make custom fit cables so we could dress our systems cleably. It's that whole geek thing :-) Also, most out there are white, ivory, or silver, and I want black if I can find it.
