Just Installed My RO/DI Unit

I know it is late, for us midwesterners. I am a night owl anyway. I bought my system off eBay last week, it is a 6 stage 100gpd unit w/zero ppm filtration, a tank and faucet unit included for $119.99. The company is called Purewaterclub*com. Seems to be a quality unit. Insatallation went smoothly, even for an old fat guy who hates crawling around on the floor and under the cabinets. Instructions could be a little better written (more descriptive in the what and where areas). Generally speaking pretty good though.
I do have a question or two. How long should I run the bypass to flush the system, and when can I expect good water from the included faucet system???

When I change out my filters, I run 5 gals or so through them before reconnecting the RO membrane. I don't use a tank now, but when I did, I let the tank fill, opened the faucet and let it drain to a trickle, let it fill again, drained again, then good to go. HTH

Is this for a reef? or for just drinking? The units from ebay far far from quality units. Does it have a true 10" vertical DI canister or a cheap inefficient horizontal tube?

What type of membrane, unless they specifically mention the membrane manufacture it is probably a 90% rejection Chinese knockoff.

if this is the one you got,

you should start by throwing away the hollow DI tube and replace it with this.

After you replace the DI I would replace all the filters inside with real one's like this

So for 119 you paid, plus 35 for a real DI, plus 65 for real filters, plus a pressure gauge and in-line TDS meter you will wind up paying well over 200 bucks.... If you would have just went with a quality unit with quality parts the first time you would have saved money right from the start.. like this one..

I like other units from other vendors just the same, I just find it easier to link to purely.

If you have a pressure tank and autoshutoff valve the fluch valve is worthless. The only time you "may" receive any benefit from flushing is right begore you shut the unit off "each time" you make water. Each time is important so you do not get a build up on the membranes surface. I still am not convinced of the benefit of flush valves and would'nt worry about it as long as you make sure you have at least 4:1 waste ratio at all times.
Sick is correct in that the unit you just purchased is bottom of the barrel as far as quality, you will likely never see a true 0 TDS with the components it comes with.
