Just move from dallas, need help with new set up

First of all, hello everyonel and happy holiday. I am long time reefcentral member but first time posting in the local forum. I just recently moved from dallas to ABQ and planning to set up a new tanks. Anyone know who in albuquerque built custom tank? I m looking for a 48''x30''x22 rimless. I recently sold all my livestocks in dallas and my tank in dallas so decide to start all over. By the way how is the LFS here? do they carry good variety? thanks

Hey Tony, thanks for replying. I just look up Elos is a little pricey but they do make nice tanks. My previous tank was 48x30x18 1/2 inch thick all round with a front panel starfire glass and i got it for 600. i was wondering if there a local guy that can do it around that price or a little bit more. I save all my equipments from old tank. For flow, there will be 2 mp40ws side to side, and 2 mp10 from the back. For lighting there will be t5 36iches powermodule 6 39watt and with 24 atinic custom cree LED, all that will go into the canopy and the canopy will be suspended from the ceiling that is why i decide to go with rimless. I will probaly go buy a 40breeder and make my own sump and planning to put Itech cone skimmer.

No idea if someone local builds tanks, I am still rocking the undrilled 90 AGA. Try asking at the LFS, they've always been helpful for me.

Your going to have a hard time finding 1/2in glass. I have been searching awhile so i can make my 100 wide tank. You might be best off to just order one off of glasscages since they seem to be the best price around. Thanks

I agree w/ the glasscages idea. They have a truck coming into ABQ terminal late Feb. Order now and get your shipping costs cut and pickup off the back of a truck for cheap.

Contact them and find out.

Just a forwarning: if you hunt around, you will get a lot of mixed reviews on GCs. The biggest, being the quality of their silicone seams. If you want it to look really good, you might want to look elsewhere (verify this for yourself though). If you want a sexy as hell, and built just as well tank, in the rimless category, there is only Elos (I spent months looking into this). If you go that route, you may find it better to get your own sump/skimmer and just get the main tank/stand. It is solid but not that flexible. Some don't like their skimmer. The new ATO rocks though. Elos is $, but if you can afford it, it is a piece of work.

I am very pleased with my 300gal from GC's the silicone on all the seams is very well done and very neat. The only part I had any complaint with was that they are messy with their silicone in the fact that they left several finger prints in silicone on the main parts of the glass. Not a big deal and nothing a new razor blade couldn't take care of.
This is of course just my experience with them and not to say that others don't have a different story.

thanks all for the reply, but i am planning to go back to dallas to visit family and will pick up a tank there, the builder just quote me 650 for the tank with star fire fire panel.

Can’t beat glasscages had a friend with one he just took a razor to the edges to clean a little extra silicone (better to much then not enough) . It looks nice and there are no issues with quality.
Elos is over-prized on everything Test-kits 45 or 50 dollars however good, I don’t need that good of a test kit for my PH or Alk.

I agree. Elos is very expensive. However, their tank and stand are damn sexy! Their lights are also really nice but the only reason I got one, was that I got it for about 1/4 the price used :-D
