Just need a bit of help

I've had ich in my main tank has just been waiting for the ich cycle to die 8weeks until I can put fish in again. I was told that 6 weeks was the desired time to kill ich, just to be safe I'm doing 8 weeks. I have a question in treating with copper, I've used copper in my QT right now, do I remove it since its been a month? Do i still leave the fish in the QT until it's time for me to put them in my main tank?

Also, I'm looking to add 2 regular clowns to my main display once I'm ready to put them In the tank. Should I buy them now and QT them? Or let them settle in the main display first before adding the other fishes in my QT?

My plan is, on dec 22-23 is when I can start putting fish again, I'm going to buy 2 clowns, 1 royal gramma. from my LFS on dec 22 and put them straight to the my main display. In my QT I have (3 green blue chromis, 1 sapphire damsel, 1 orange spot goby) I'll slowly one species of fish into my main display per day.
So 2 clowns: dec 22
3 green chromis: dec 23
Orange spot goby: dec 24
Sapphire damsel: dec 25

How does this sound? Really need help, feel free to post your responses.

Firstly your post is in the wrong forum. Hit your red triangle under the user name and ask for you post to be moved to the appropriate forum.

i would leave the DT fallow or fishless for 72 days to make sure the ich has died off in the DT.

I would also rethink your fish strategy. I would put your fish from the QT into the DT first. then I would purchase your next fish and put them through the QT process. My reasoning, for example you purchase the clowns and put them into the DT straight away then add your other fish back in. A week goes by and now your tank has ich again or Brook from the clowns. Now the whole process is repeated again to get rid of the illness from the DT. Good luck just my 2 cents.

Thanks, still new, but I've done what you've asked.
My worry is that once I'm introducing the clowns they might get bullied later on.
Also, how long is a QT fir fish before adding to your main display tank? Do new fishes bought have to be treated with copper? :p

I would not be to worried about the clowns getting bullied. They can hold their own against a lot of fishes and with what you have listed the others stand more of a chance of getting bullied by the clowns. Once the clowns are sexually mature they will become territorial and more aggressive.

As far as QT goes I like to tell new folks that they should QT all new fishes.

My personal QT protocol for new fish is the following:

I assume all fish I buy have ich, so I will put them through Tank Transfer Method (TTM). TTM takes 12 days. After TTM I will then put the fish in my main QT, a 29g tank, for 4-5 weeks. During this period I will treat the fish with two rounds of prazipro for flukes, pretty common, and internal parasites. During this time period I obsrve the fish for other illnesses that may show up. one reason for the delayed appearance of some illnesses is that a lot of LFS and distributors woll use a very low dose of copper to keep illnesses at bay and mask symptoms. So after you buy the fish and about 30 days later an illness may just show up. Also, during this time it allows the fish to get comfortable and eating. A fish that is eating and healthy will adapt to the other inhabitants in your DT easier IMO.

At the top of this forum are two stickies one is on tank transfer method and the other is called "setting up" it is basically a book with a lot of really good info. Good luck just my two cents.
