Just ordered this

I dont remember reading anything bashing Extreme? Scott take a chill pill man, he never accused you of anything. Others here have indicated a possible mis-label, not Brad. Heck he even said even if it is a mislabel that hes still happy with the price! He also was the first to say hes not going to bash your business because he wants to allow you to make things right. So make things right, stop taking such offense to his posts and everything will be cool I am sure :P.

It looks like a Mussidae to me. I would say most likely Acanthastrea. The corallites are not round enough for echinata or subechinata. A. hillae has larger polyps, so probably not that, but you never really know without skeletal examination.

I'd say it's closer to A. hemprichii or A. brevis.

It's a cool piece.

Not that I'm trying to start anything, but looking at that recession, most of it has a dark color, usually evident of an old die off. The bright white areas adjacent to the flesh look like new recession.

Even though the typically spiny Mussid corallites are poking through the flesh, which you would expect after shipping, I'd say the coral will be fine in a healthy reef.

I think it's a Acan as well, if it was Favia than the outline of the heads would be much harder but they are soft and are starting to puff up.

Brad, have you had further contact? I had not heard of Extreme Corals and now when I go to their web site it says the site expired on April 1st. Can anyone get to their site? Or did they go under?

I noticed that too. Doesn't look good.

Hey guys,

The site is back up. If you still can't reach it, it should start working for you again soon. We were doing some updating and also switching hosting companies as we have outgrown our previous setup. The techies said there wouldn't be any downtime, but apparently someone goofed somewhere. I don't understand a lot of the technical stuff, but at this point they said the "DNS is still propagating" something or other. In any event, we're not going anywhere.

As far as Brad's situation, I spoke to him yesterday and issued him a full credit for the coral. He is also going to just keep this "mystery" coral, although I stand by my assertion that it is indeed an Acan. In any event Brad is obviously happy with the credit since he now has a free coral, and we're just happy that everyone is happy. :)

Extreme took care of the situation, thank you to them.

I think it's a ACAN of some kind, here are some more pics.
