Just Received a Pair of H. Ingens

Hi Tim,

I am sorry to hear that the H. Ingens from De Jong's did not do well. Did you try any of them yourself? Any idea what kind of problems they had?

Tom

Hi Tom,

I am not equip tank size wise or equipment wise to care for them properly and seeing all the problems people were having made me leery of them. If I had access to meds like you do in the states, I might have look into it.

Kind Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for getting back to me. I do appreciate it. Someday I hope to make it to Amsterdam...I hear is is a fabulous place to visit!

Looks like you have an SPS dominate tank ? Seahorses will bother the corals by attaching to them and the conditions for the coral are different than the seahorses require ? To much current is needed for the SPS just to name one....you should have a separate set up for them......IMO

Hey JCreefer, I do appreciate your thoughts. In case you are interested, you might like to know that I have a Tunze wavebox which provides great flow for the sps without blowing the seahorses around. In fact, the seahorses seem to enjoy rocking back and forth in the tank as the wavebox moves the water. I have been keeping seahorses with quite a bit of sps for over three years now. I know most people are surprised by this, but the only problem I have found is that the seahorses can wear off the polyps on a favorite "hitching" spot on a particular sps. Most of the time they hitch on gorgonians, tubing, glass thermometers, etc., rather than on an sps. But the sps does grow fine above and below that hitching area if a seahorse decides to claim it as his special spot. I can show you more pics if interested.
