Just wondering...

Well, I just have 4 x 110 W VHO's over the tank right now...

It is a 125 Gal. Here is a pic with the doors open so you can kinda see what I am talking about...

This is the layout of the 4 bulbs...very rough.

no new pics...lol...well i'd say it is a great deal. are you goin to be getting in to LPS and SPS? you are goin to be wasting alot of energy if you arent.

LOL...well, I am not sure about the SPS. I mean I have a few little things in there right now...

I don't want to get into the very clean water, crazy all SPS type of set up, but it would be nice to know I could if I wanted to...lol!

How much more energy would I be really wasting? I mean right now I run my 440W for 9 hours a day...so, if I had the 500W of MH running...8 hours and the 220 W Actinics running maybe 6 hours...it is not that much more...right??

Vince...you have seen the set up, do you think it would be fairly easy to do these??
 
well, first off i'd measure the draw from the wall with the 660 you have now just to see exactly how much more. at first i would go with 6 hours but i would bump it up to 8 after a week or 2. then have the actinics come on 1 hour before and after the mh's go off. i like to start my tank lights at round 11 so they are still on well into the night when i am home. but yes it would be very easy to put those up. it would maybe take 20 mins and a beer...lol...
 
lol yes i have tool to measure it. BUT i wont be able to come over till prolly mon. BUT you can pick it up and use it , all you have to do it plug it into the wall and the 660 into it. very easy. let me know if you want to use it. right after work ill be at lowes then up to dave's house so i can bring it with me if you want.
 
I am not sure when I will be home. When were you coming through?

I am not sure I can get to Lowes...it is no big deal...whenever you can get it to me (or Monday night is fine).
 
ill be in vestal at daves all night. i would jump on it if you are going to get it acuse it wont be around long.

I have to be at my parents for my dad's B-day tonight...I can try to meet you at Dave's but when are you getting there? I have to be at the parents by 6.
 
Great deal! Great ballast!! I love MH and I really love Icecap ballasts. I have MH on my softy/LPS tank and I think it looks great. MH are not over kill for softies at all. I would go for it :thumbsup:
 
Ugh...this is stressing me out...lol!

Ok...here is some justification...I have to get new bulbs (I think mine are like 18 months old - yikes).

So...that would be like $100 for those. If I don't get those and I get this it is like an extra $150. Not too bad...and I can keep the actinics for a while right? It is not as critical to update those since they will be used for dusk/dawn lights.
 
welll....no... you will need to buy MH bulbs which avg bout 60-75 each. as well are reflectors which will be another 25-110 depending on whcih ones you get. so you are looking at another 300 beans...
 
Says is comes with bulbs...only 90 hours on them...
