I came across a tiny 2 1/2" Dussumieri Tang, at Petco in Omaha Nebraska of all places:confused:

So of course the tang enthusiast in me couldn't pass this by, he had nice round belly and was grazing on the rock in the 10g tank. I figured ehh what heck, why not, I'll be getting a bigger tank here soon enough(well I have no choice now:D )

Have you gotten yours to eat anythign yet? I've recently aquired a 1 3/4" duss myself and am keeping him in my sump. Unfortunately he hasn't gone for anything I've given him (nori, cyclopeeze, hikari mysis, brine shrimp, MLS pellets). Just wondering if there's anything else I should try. I'm debating moving him to my DT and see if he can graze off some rock at this point.

we LOVE our petco finds. Sometimes they have the best fish, sometimes it's scary but I've seen some neat stuff there- our last find was a Koran for 38.00 !

He has no issues eating at this point, and is eating like pig.

It looks almost like Acanthurus xanthopterus - yellowfin tang in Hawaii. It is difficult to tell at this stage, but both look very similar as juveniles (different than blochii) Im leaning towards Duss because of the faint white caudal spine and yellowish tail stripe

Regardless, great find. they are beautiful fish.

BTW - aussie dussumeiri's look pretty much exactly the same as Hawaiian Dussumeiri's. The smallest Aussie one i've had was 7", and compared side to side with local duces, you can't tell them apart. I also had a few 15" ones - which besides costing 4x as much after freight, look almost identical... Duces from other parts of the world do looked more washed out, so i understand why Aussie duces have a higher expectation :)

Really really tough to 100% ID at that size, but the white scalpel is a good sign. I look forward to the updates!
