I'm not sure either, but the maximum quantity of kalk you can add to a gallon of water is about 2 teaspoons, not tablespoons. If you add more than 2 teaspoons it will settle out of the solution. You can get a little more to dissolve into solution by adding a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar to the water which will also lower the pH of the kalkwasser solution slightly.

This is correct, the way Sk8r explains it is you can actually add 1 lb to your ato container of say 10 gal or whatever it is and stir it a few times and only that 2 tsp per gal will saturate the water, then as you add RODI to the ATO it will only use what is needed for the amount of water added. This will continue until all of the Kalk is used. So you can't overdose kalk in the ato water even if you dump a few lbs into a few gals.

Sounds pretty fail safe to me, I don't need to dose as of yet because my 20% 2 week wc's take care of what my corals are currently using.
