kalk reactor help?

Does anyone use a auto topoff between the ro/di and kalk reactor(valve before reactor) and just let the water push through the kalk reactor when the float switch in the sump calls for make up water?
I am using a Precision Marine reactor. This does not seem like it would put any pressure on the reactor sense there is no restriction down stream of the reactor.

Thanks
Tony

I use an auto-top off for emergency water supply if sump is getting too low. The best way to run your Kalk reactor is with a pump like the Spectrpure Liter meter, or something like this. This way you are replacing evaporation water throughout the day and maximizes the use of your kalk. If you just use the auto top off method your kalk wont be as effective and you run the risk of increasing the pH of your tank way too much too fast. Using a metering pump keeps everything much more stable.

I run my rodi into a 55 gallon trashcan with a float. In the make up water or trashcan, is the osmolator pump, that pump is then attached to to the kalk reactor and then the water goes into the sump. All evaporated water is replaced through the kalk reactor. The new make up water goes into the trashcan and remains @ that level.

My ph is pretty stable betweeen 8.1 to 8.3, and all my corals are doing very well. This is on a 150 gallon system total.

I also see what, cweder, is saying about the stability of the litremeter, but I have no more room to have another top off container, so I have to do it this way.

I use a Tunze Osmolator for my auto topoff that feeds RO/DI through my DIY kalk reactor to the sump. With evaporation, my system tops off ~1-2 ounces every 15-20 minutes. It works great. That kind of setup works fine unless your topoff system is not very sensitive (i.e. it adds greater volumes each time) and/or your system volume is small. My total water volume including the sump is around 100 gallons.

I use a oceanus systems auto top off that runs direct from my ro/di to my geo kalkwasser keeps my ph at 8.1 8.2 works great the secret is how much kalk to put in reactor and how often to turn on pump once you have it dailed in set and forget.

What if I put a ball valve between the solenoid valve and the reactor and try to match evaporation, or a little more?
Do you think this would work ok?

Thanks
Tony
